The neuroendocrine nature of the pineal organ is well established. Linked to the optic system via postganglionic sympathetic fibres coming from the superior cervical ganglia, the parenchymal cells of the pineal synthesize serotonin from tryptophan and convert it to melatonin, the most widely studied pineal substance, and other indoleamines. Melatonin synthesis is stimulated by noradrenaline released from intrapineal sympathetic nerve fibres, involving β-adrenergic mechanisms and the adenyl cyclase-cAMP-system. Binding properties and stability of the Ras-association domain of Rap1-GTP interacting adapter molecule (RIAM).

The Rap1-GTP interacting adapter protein (RIAM) is an important protein in Rap1-mediated integrin activation. By binding to both Rap1 GTPase and talin, RIAM recruits talin to the cell membrane, thus facilitating talin-dependent integrin activation. In this article, we studied the role of the RIAM Ras-association (RA) and pleckstrin-homology (PH) domains in the interaction with Rap1. We found that the RA domain was sufficient for GTP-dependent interaction with Rap1B, and the addition of the PH domain did not change the binding affinity. International audience; DEHP is a widely used platiciser in the manufacture of PVC-based materials. It is known to disrupt the reproductive tract development in male rats. We have performed the Hershberger assay with DEHP on an immature castrated rat model to check if DEHP antagonise the testosterone propionate androgenic effect on the accessory sex organs development. DEHP significantly decreased the BC/LA muscles, the prostate, and the seminal vesicles relative weights from 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg bw/day, respectively. Sarcoidosis is a systemic disorder characterized by granulomatous lesions, principally affecting the lungs. There are numerous reports in the literature of an associated involvement of the thyroid, much more frequently in hypothyroid than in hyperthyroid subjects.
