Xenohormones and oral homeostasis : impact on taste preferences and salivary glands

2012

Oral homeostasis strongly influences taste perceptions. It depends on a healthy oral epithelium and salivary gland secretions, which are both regulated by sex hormones. The aim of this thesis was to identify the effect of an oral exposure to Bisphenol A, a food packaging and dental sealer component, and of a soy-diet containing phytoestrogens on oral homeostasisTwo experiments were conducted in adult rats: a dose-response study of BPA (5μg 12.5 mg / kj / day), and a study about the impact of a soy-diet on the BPA disrupting effects. By using gustation choice tests, and histological and qPCR-TR molecular approach, we identify for the first time an action of BPA on dry mouth. We found that BP…

Isolated lung perfusion with chemotherapy in a pig model

2014

Introduction: The isolated lung perfusion (ILP) is an experimental technique which main objective is to deliver high dose of cytotoxic agent to the lung tissue without systemic exposure. The thesis took place in three stages: first stage, setting in vitro the chemotherapy the most efficient against colorectal cancer (CCR) cells in 30 min. Second stage, develop the ILP technique in a pig model. Third stage, lead a dose escalation study with chemotherapy by ILP.Methods: First stage, efficacy of various cytotoxic molecules against a panel of human CCR cell lines was tested in vitro after a 30-minute exposure. Second stage, pigs were treated with chemotherapy delivered by ILP during 30 minutes …

AbstractGenomic imprinting is implicated in the control of gene dosage in neurogenic niches. Here we address the importance of Igf2 imprinting for murine adult neurogenesis in the subventricular zone (SVZ) and in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the hippocampus in vivo. In the SVZ, paracrine IGF2 is a cerebrospinal fluid and endothelial-derived neurogenic factor requiring biallelic expression, with mutants having reduced activation of the stem cell pool and impaired olfactory bulb neurogenesis. In contrast, Igf2 is imprinted in the hippocampus acting as an autocrine factor expressed in neural stem cells (NSCs) solely from the paternal allele. Conditional mutagenesis of Igf2 in blood vessels co…

Pathogenicity of live bacteria and extracellular products of motileAeromonasisolated from eels

1995

The pathogenic activities in vitro and in vivo of live bacteria and extracellular products (ECP) of 24 motile Aeromonas strains were investigated. Most Aer. hydrophila and Aer. jandaei isolates were pathogenic for eels (LD50 105·4‐107·6 cfu fish‐1) but no Aer. sobria, Aer. caviae and Aer. allosaccharophila caused mortality in eels at doses of > 108·4 cfu fish‐1. Of these Aeromonas strains, Aer. hydrophila and Aer. jandaei in particular produced elastases and haemolysins against fish erythrocytes. ECP from Aer. hydrophila and Aer. jandaei caused degenerative changes in fish cell lines and were strongly toxic for eels (LD50 1·0–3·2 μg (g fish)‐1) reproducing the symptoms associated with natur…

Die endokrinen drsen im embryo von Oncopeltus fasciatus Dallas (Insecta, Heteroptera)

1972

The differentiation of the endocrine glands in the embryo of Oncopeltus fasciatus is described. The function of these glands can be correlated with the embryonic moults. The nuclei of some tissues already become polyploid in the embryo. It is discussed whether the endomitotic growth is dependent upon the function of the endocrine glands.
