This paper offers a contrastive analysis of Indian captivity narratives and the Native American boarding-school experience. Indian captivity narratives describe the ordeals of white women and men, kidnapped by Indians, who were separated from their families and subsequently lived months or even years with Indian tribes. The Native American boarding-school experience, which began in the late nineteenth century, took thousands of Indian children from their parents for the purpose of “assimilation to civilization” to be facilitated through governmental schools, thereby creating a captivity of a different sort. Saskaņā ar cilvēktiesībām un cilvēka cieņas konceptu, par augstāko vērtību uzskatāms ir cilvēks, tomēr šāda nostāja ne tikai apdraud planētas veselību, bet arī pašus cilvēkus. Pētījuma metodes ietver klimata pārmaiņu, to attēlojuma literatūrā un ekokritikas teorētisko pētījumu, kā arī praktisko pētījumu (detalizētu lasīšanu un ekokritisku analīzi). Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka daba un klimata pārmaiņas romānā attēlotas kā process, ko ietekmē cilvēku rīcība. In recent decades, the use of psychosocial and psychiatric care systems has increased worldwide. A recent article proposed the concept of psychiatrization as an explanatory framework, describing multiple processes responsible for the spread of psychiatric concepts and forms of treatment. This article aims to explore the potentials of the Open Dialogue (OD) approach for engaging in less psychiatrizing forms of psychosocial support.
