ON THE EXISTENCE OF LIMIT CYCLES IN OPINION FORMATION PROCESSES UNDER TIME PERIODIC INFLUENCE OF PERSUADERS

2008

This paper concerns a model of opinion formation in a population of interacting individuals under the influence of external leaders or persuaders, which act in a time periodic fashion. The model is formulated within a general framework inspired to a discrete generalized kinetic approach, which has been developed in Ref. 6. It is expressed by a system of non-autonomous nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The dynamics of such a system is investigated and the existence of a globally asymptotically stable periodic solution is analytically proved in three example cases, each one corresponding to a different quantitative choice of the actions of the persuaders. Equivalently, in three part…

Bounds on plastic strains for elastic plastic structures in plastic shakedown conditions

2007

The problem related to the computation of bounds on plastic deformations for structures in plastic shakedown condition (alternating plasticity) is studied. In particular, reference is made to structures discretized by finite elements constituted by elastic perfectly plastic material and subjected to a special combination of fixed and cyclic loads. The load history is known during the steady-state phase, but it is unknown during the previous transient phase; so, as a consequence, it is not possible to know the complete elastic plastic structural response. The interest is therefore focused on the computation of bounds on suitable measures of the plastic strain which characterizes just the fir…

Prospectives to tractor cabin design with computational acoustics tools

2011

Computational acoustical models allow automated optimization of tractor design with respect to acoustic properties, which could speed up significantly the design process of tractor cabin prototypes. This article gives insightful prospectives to the tractor design process by considering modern computational acoustics technology. Mathematical formulation for a system consisting of vibrating elastic tractor structure and airfilled acoustic enclosure are given and a related numerical solution technique with finite element method (FEM) is presented. Simulation results produced with commercially available software are reviewed. nonPeerReviewed

Quadratic least-squares formulation for a local active noise control with stochastic domain and noise source

2012

A local active noise control method that uses stochastic numerical acoustical modeling is introduced. The frequency domain acoustical simulations are performed by a sequence solutions to Helmholtz equations approximated by FEM. The proposed ANC method maps microphone measurements linearly to the output signals of antinoise actuators. The matrix defining the linear mapping is optimized for each frequency to minimize expected value of the noise. The paper concentrates on defining the quadratic least-squares optimization problem for the minimization of the sound pressure field in the silet region. The formulation leads to a robust and accurate noise control in stochastic domains that has a sto…

Optimal control in models with conductive‐radiative heat transfer

2003

In this paper an optimal control problem for the elliptic boundary value problem with nonlocal boundary conditions is considered. It is shown that the weak solutions of the boundary value problem depend smoothly on the control parameter and that the cost functional of the optimal control problem is Frechet differentiable with respect to the control parameter. Modeling Employee Satisfaction in Relation to CSR Practices and Attraction and Retention of Top Talent

2013

In today's economy, companies must work harder than ever to attract, retain and motivate talented employees in order to foster employee satisfaction, and in order to do so, CSR practices can provide a strategic tool. A green company no longer denotes solely the promotion of green products or reduction of energy consumption, as it has to incorporate proactive and innovative means of tracking sustainability while involving employees in such corporate behavior. This paper highlights an empirical study of responses from 10 multinational companies regarding their corporate social responsibility initiatives as a way to attract and retain good employees, while providing an appropriate environment …

QCD resummation effects in forward $J/\psi$ and very backward jet inclusive production at the LHC

2017

We propose and study the inclusive production of a forward $J/\psi$ and a very backward jet at the LHC as an observable to reveal high-energy resummation effects \`a la BFKL. Our different predictions are based on the various existing mechanisms to describe the production of the $J/\psi$, namely, NRQCD singlet and octet contributions, and the color evaporation model.

Propiedades psicométricas de la versión española de la Escala Temporal de Satisfacción con la Vida (Temporal Satisfaction With Life Scale, TSLS): Un …

2015
