Comparaison des motifs autobiographiques dans l’oeuvre de Anaïs Nin et de Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette
2019
Comparison of autobiographical motifs in the works of Anaïs Nin and Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. The purpose of this article is to present two women writers, Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette and Anaïs Nin, and to analyze the role of autobiography in their writing practice. In order to achieve this objective, we will analyze certain motifs, essential to the life and writingof these women writers, such as the importance of the characters of Colette’s mother and Anaïs Nin’s father, and their unusual nature. This will allow us to highlight, among other things, the theme of women’s sexual freedom, which has broken taboos and generated controversy, making the two women writers predecessors of feminist lit…
Choosing an ideal pharmacotherapeutic strategy for dyslipidemia in children.
2018
Dyslipdiemia can manifest at a young age, and it is a risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), the principal cause of mortality in developed nations. Therefore, treating it a...
An evaluation of RVX-208 for the treatment of atherosclerosis
2015
Introduction: RVX-208 is a first-in-class, orally active, novel small molecule in development by Resverlogix Corporation (Calgary, AB, Canada). It acts through an epigenetic mechanism by inhibiting the bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) family of proteins, increasing apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) and targeting high-density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism, including generating of nascent HDL and increased larger HDL particles, resulting in the stimulation of reverse cholesterol transport. RVX-208 also has a beneficial effect on inflammatory factors known to be involved in atherosclerosis and plaque stability. New therapeutic strategies are needed for patients with atherosclerosis.Areas covered: …

Colesterol-no HDL como objetivo terapéutico
2019
Although cholesterol linked to low-density lipoproteins (c-LDL) is well established as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, there is often a more complex dyslipidaemia pattern that contributes to the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. Non-HDL cholesterol (c-NO-HDL) is used to estimate the total amount of atherogenic lipoproteins in plasma, some of which are not usually determined in daily clinical practice. c-NO-HDL is easily calculated from the subtraction of total plasma cholesterol from the cholesterol content carried by high density lipoproteins. The c-NO-HDL has a predictive value superior to that of C-LDL to estimate the risk of major cardiovascular events in epidemiological st…
Hipercolesterolemia familiar homocigota: adaptación a España del documento de posición del grupo de consenso sobre hipercolesterolemia familiar de la…
2015
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH) is a rare life-threatening disease characterized by markedly elevated circulating levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and accelerated, premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD). The Consensus Panel on Familial Hypercholesterolaemia of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) has recently published a clinical guide to diagnose and manage HoFH (Eur Heart J. 2014;35:2146-57). Both the Spanish Society of Atherosclerosis (SEA) and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Foundation (FHF) consider this European Consensus document of great value and utility. However, there are particularities in our country which advise to ha…
Visualizing the atherosclerotic plaque: a chemical perspective.
2014
Atherosclerosis is the major underlying pathologic cause of coronary artery disease. An early detection of the disease can prevent clinical sequellae such as angina, myocardial infarction, and stroke. The different imaging techniques employed to visualize the atherosclerotic plaque provide information of diagnostic and prognostic value. Furthermore, the use of contrast agents helps to improve signal-to-noise ratio providing better images. For nuclear imaging techniques and optical imaging these agents are absolutely necessary. We report on the different contrast agents that have been used, are used or may be used in future in animals, humans, or excised tissues for the distinct imaging moda…
Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA): Intracoronary imaging-based diagnosis and management.
2021
Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is defined by clinical evidence of myocardial infarction (MI) with normal or near-normal coronary arteries on angiography. This condition is present in about 5% to 25% of patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes. MINOCA is a working diagnosis. Current guidelines and consensus recommend identification of underlying causes of MINOCA in order to optimize treatment, improve prognosis, and promote prevention of recurrent myocardial infarction. An accurate evaluation of patient history, symptoms and use of invasive and non-invasive imaging should lead to identification of epicardial or microvascular causes of MINOCA an…
