Lessons Learned from the German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) and Expectations for the Future

The German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection type A (GERAADA) is a prospective observational clinical multicenter registry that was launched in 2006. With more than 2,500 patients included from over 50 recruiting centers it is—to our knowledge—the most representative register for acute aortic dissection type A (AADA) currently available. We examined mortality and post-operative events as well as the influence of various pre- and intraoperative factors on these endpoints. Central corneal thickness in mucopolysaccharidosis II and VI.

Objective To describe the ultrasonographically detected central corneal thickness (CCT) in patients with Type II and VI mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and its impact on applanation tonometry and glaucoma detection. Methods Twenty-eight patients with MPS (19 MPS II, nine MPS VI) underwent pachymetric investigation of CCT. Additionally, ultrasound measurements of axial length of the globe, slit-lamp evaluation with semiquantitative grading of corneal clouding, applanation tonometry, and assessment of refractive error were performed. On a global superconvergence of the gradient of linear triangular elements

Abstract We study a simple superconvergent scheme which recovers the gradient when solving a second-order elliptic problem in the plane by the usual linear elements. The recovered gradient globally approximates the true gradient even by one order of accuracy higher in the L 2 -norm than the piecewise constant gradient of the Ritz—Galerkin solution. A superconvergent approximation to the boundary flux is presented as well.

On Erlang B-formula and ERT method extension

The key result of the paper is the theorem on traffic splitting and the ERT method extension for estimation of the throughput for schemes with traffic splitting. The excellent accuracy (relative error is less than 1%) is shown in numerical example. The paper also contains new Erlang-B formula algorithm for non-integer number of channels based on parabolic approximation.

Demand Sharing Inaccuracies in Supply Chains: A Simulation Study

We investigate two main sources of information inaccuracies (i.e., errors and delays) in demand information sharing along the supply chain (SC). Firstly, we perform a systematic literature review on inaccuracy in demand information sharing and its impact on supply chain dynamics. Secondly, we model several SC settings using system dynamics and assess the impact of such information inaccuracies on SC performance. New Objective Refraction Metric Based on Sphere Fitting to the Wavefront

To develop an objective refraction formula based on the ocular wavefront error (WFE) expressed in terms of Zernike coefficients and pupil radius, which would be an accurate predictor of subjective spherical equivalent (SE) for different pupil sizes.Methods.
