This article investigates early childhood education and care (ECEC) leadership through the concept of community of practice (COP). The focus is on ECEC leaders’ perceptions regarding their leadership during the educational changes taking place in the context of Finnish ECEC. This study explored the perceptions of deputy directors about their leadership in Early Childhood Education (ECE) centres in Finland. Our aim was to look beyond task distribution and understand how deputy directors enacted leadership with their colleagues. Six deputy directors employed in one municipality in Finland participated in this study. Interviewed individually, the participants discussed how they themselves perceived being in a leadership position and what their leadership looked like in practice. Work-related stress of elementary school principals in Finland: Coping strategies and support

The present study aimed to investigate elementary school principals’ self-reported causes of work-related stress, their coping strategies to deal with stress and the support they need for their leadership. Seventy-six principals filled in the questionnaire, which included open-ended questions. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyse the data. The results showed that the main sources of stress were workload, interpersonal conflicts, a lack of resources and internal pressures. Moreover, principals used emotion-focused, problem-focused and social coping to deal with stress. Drawing the premises for personalized learning : illustrations of management and accounting

This paper reports on a teaching innovation using participant-generated drawings. Experienced managers were asked to produce a drawing to illustrate their work from an accounting perspective. The drawings were then used to make the managerial context of the participants the explicit starting point for personalized executive learning. This study is the first in the sphere of accounting education and research to take drawing seriously as a learning method. An assessment of COVID-19’s impact on Finnish University Leadership

This article maps the management actions that Finnish universities have taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and studies how managers in Finnish higher education coped during the crisis and how they feel about it. This study explores the strategic thinking of managers from an accounting perspective. By building on interview data from managers working with strategic roles in various organizations, an understanding is offered of the experienced potentials and pitfalls of accounting in strategic thinking. The results are elaborated into a framework presenting the dual nature of accounting in strategic contexts. Koulun johtamisella on keskeinen rooli ikääntyneiden opettajien työhyvinvointiin ja jaksamiseen. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin yli 30 vuoden työuran tehneitä liikunnanopettajia ja kahta liikunnanopettajataustaista rehtoria. Tavoitteena oli saada tietoa siitä, mitkä asiat koulun johtamisessa ovat vaikuttaneet liikunnanopettajien työhyvinvointiin ja viihtymiseen työuran aikana. Teemahaastatteluina kerätty aineisto analysoitiin sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Tutkitut liikunnanopettajat olivat innostuneita työstään, mikä voimaannutti heitä.
