Reagent- and Metal-Free Anodic C-C Cross-Coupling of Aniline Derivatives.
2017
The dehydrogenative cross-coupling of aniline derivatives to 2,2′-diaminobiaryls is reported. The oxidation is carried out electrochemically, which avoids the use of metals and reagents. A large variety of biphenyldiamines were thus prepared. The best results were obtained when glassy carbon was used as the anode material. The electrosynthetic reaction is easily performed in an undivided cell at slightly elevated temperature. In addition, common amine protecting groups based on carboxylic acids were employed that can be selectively removed under mild conditions after the cross-coupling, which provides quick and efficient access to important building blocks featuring free amine moieties.
Linking PO43− and HAsO42− anions with a dinuclear [ZnII2] complex: Formation and stabilization of novel decanuclear metallomacrocyclic [ZnII10] and t…
2017
The linkage of PO43- and HAsO42--anions with a newly synthesized five-coordinate dinuclear zinc complex, Zn-2(cpdp)(H2O)(2)]Cl (1) H(3)cpdp =N,N'-bis2-carboxybenzomethyl]-N,N'-bis2-pyridylmethyl]-1,3diamino propan-2-ol], has been explored. In methanol-water, the reaction of 1 with Na2HPO4 center dot 2H(2)O and Na2HAsO4 center dot 7H(2)O/NaBr separately, at ambient temperature, yielded the novel phosphate-bridged decanuclear zinc cluster, (H3O)(4)Zn-10(cPdP)(4)(mu(5)-PO4)(2)(H2O)(6)](6 center dot Cl)center dot 53H(2)O (2) and hydrogen arsenate bridged tetranuclear zinc cluster, Na-2Zn-4(cpdp)(2)(mu(4)-HAsO4)]ClBr center dot 13H(2)O (3), respectively. Analysis of the single crystal X-ray stru…
Insights into the crystal packing of phosphorylporphyrins based on the topology of their intermolecular interaction energies
2014
Four metal complexes of 5,15-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)-10,20-diphenylporphyrin 1M (M = Cd(II), Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II)) were synthesized and crystallographically characterized. The crystal organization patterns were analyzed using DFT (B97-D3/def2-SVP) calculations of the intermolecular interaction energies between complexes in the crystals. For the systematic analysis of crystal packing, the calculations were extended to previously reported compounds 1M (M = H2, Cu(II), and Zn(II)). Quantitative analysis of the interaction energies shows the essential role of weak intermolecular interactions, such as C-H⋯O, C-H⋯π and M⋯π, in the formation of basic structural motifs and their organization …
Acylchalcogenourea Complexes of Silver(I)
2016
Acylthio- or acylselenoureas react with silver(I) oxide to form tetranuclear silver(I) complexes containing the deprotonated acylchalcogenourea ligands bound to the silver atoms through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. These tetrasilver(I) species react with either 4 or 8 equiv. of a phosphine to afford either dinuclear silver(I) phosphine complexes or tetrahedral silver diphosphine complexes. In these compounds, the acylchalcogenourea ligands form six-membered rings by coordinating to the metal atom through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. In one case, we observed a very rare example of an acylthiourea ligand coordinated through the nitrogen and sulfur atoms to form a four-membered ring. A s…
Rational Synthesis of Chiral Metal-Organic Frameworks from Preformed Rodlike Secondary Building Units.
2017
The lack of rational design methodologies to obtain chiral rod-based MOFs is a current synthetic limitation that hampers further expansion of MOF chemistry. Here we report a metalloligand design strategy consisting of the use, for the first time, of preformed 1D rodlike SBUs (1) for the rational preparation of a chiral 3D MOF (2) exhibiting a rare eta net topology. The encoded chiral information on the enantiopure ligand is efficiently transmitted first to the preformed helical 1D building block and, in a second stage, to the resulting chiral 3D MOF. These results open new routes for the rational design of chiral rod-based MOFs, expanding the scope of these unique porous materials.
Modulation of the ordering temperature in anilato-based magnets
2019
Abstract Four new 2D honeycomb anilato-based ferrimagnets with Mn(II) and Cr(III) have been prepared and characterized. These compounds, formulated as (NBu4)[MnCr(C6O4X2)3(PhCHO)]·PhY (X/Y = Cl/H (1), Br/H (2), Cl/CHO (3) and Br/CHO (4) show that it is possible to include benzaldehyde as a co-ligand coordinated to the Mn(II) metal atom in these 2D ferrimagnets. This inclusion increases the coordination number of Mn(II) to seven resulting in a change in the ordering temperatures of these 2D ferrimagnets (from ca. 10–11 K to ca. 7 K). Here we show the role played by the additional benzaldehyde ligand and by the crystallization solvent molecules (benzene in 1 and 2 and benzaldehyde in 3 and 4)…
Ligand Noninnocence in Cobalt Dipyrrin–Bisphenols: Spectroscopic, Electrochemical, and Theoretical Insights Indicating an Emerging Analogy with Corro…
2019
Three cobalt dipyrrin-bisphenol (DPPCo) complexes with different meso-aryl groups (pentafluorophenyl, phenyl, and mesityl) were synthesized and characterized based on their electrochemistry and spectroscopic properties in nonaqueous media. Each DPPCo undergoes multiple oxidations and reductions with the potentials, reversibility, and number of processes depending on the specific solution conditions, the specific macrocyclic substituents, and the type and number of axially coordinated ligands on the central cobalt ion. Theoretical calculations of the compounds with different coordination numbers are given in the current study in order to elucidate the cobalt-ion oxidation state and the innoc…
Combination of magnetic susceptibility and electron paramagnetic resonance to monitor the 1D to 2D solid state transformation in flexible metal-organ…

Two families of coordination polymers, {[M(btix)(2)(OH(2))(2)]·2NO(3)·2H(2)O}(n) [M = Co (1), Zn (2), Co-Zn (3); btix = 1,4-bis(triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene] and {[M(btix)(2)(NO(3))(2)]}(n) [M = Co (4), Zn (5), Co-Zn (6)], have been synthesized and characterized. The two conformations of the ligand, syn and anti, lead to one-dimensional (1D) cationic chains or two-dimensional (2D) neutral grids. Extrusion of the water molecules of the 1D compounds results in an irreversible transformation into the 2D compounds, which involves a change in conformation of the btix ligands and a rearrangement in the metal environment with cleavage and reformation of covalent bonds. This structural transformation…
Heterobimetallic Oxalate‐Bridged M II Re IV (M = Zn, Cu, Ni, Co and Mn) Complexes Incorporating Bis(3,5‐dimethylpyrazol‐1‐yl)methane: Synthesis and M…
2016
Five oxalato-bridged heterobimetallic compounds of general formula [ReCl4(ox)M(bdmpzm)2].2MeCN [ox = oxalate, bdmpzm = bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane and M = Zn (1),Cu (2), Ni (3), Co (4) and Mn (5)] have been successfully synthesized in self-assembly reactions of the [ReCl4(ox)]2- metalloligand with the coordinatively unsaturated [M(bdmpzm)2]2+ complex generated in situ by the reaction of the suitable metal(II) salt with the bdmpzm ligand. 1-5 are isostructural compounds whose crystal structures consist of neutral heterodinuclear [ReCl4(ox)M(bdmpzm)2] units and free acetonitrile molecules. The magnetic properties of 1-5 were investigated in the temperature range 2.0-300 K. The nature…
Structure and properties of a novel staircase-like decanuclear [CuII10] cluster supported by carbonate and carboxylate bridges
2018
This article describes a novel staircase-like decanuclear copper(II) cluster [CuII10(cpdp)4(CO3)4(CH3OH)2]·3.33CH3OH·7.83H2O (1) (H3cpdp = N,N′-bis[2-carboxybenzomethyl]-N,N′-bis[2-pyridylmethyl]-1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol) composed of a pair of [CuII5] pentamers. In methanol, the reaction of H3cpdp with Cu(NO3)2·3H2O in the presence of K2CO3 leads to the isolation of complex 1. This complex has been characterized by various analytical techniques including single crystal X-ray crystallography. Structural analysis reveals that the two [CuII5] pentameric units are bridged together exclusively by two μ2:η2:η1 carbonate groups. Complex 1 shows a rare μ3:η2:η1:η1 bridging coordination mode of four b…
