The substituent effect of π-electron delocalization in N-methylamino-nitropyridine derivatives: crystal structure and DFT calculations
2020
AbstractThe crystal and molecular structures of 3-(N-methylamino)-2-nitropyridine, 5-(N-methylamino)-2-nitropyridine and 2-(N-methylamino)-5-nitropyridine have been characterized by X-ray diffraction. To perform conformational analysis, the geometries of the compounds as well as their conformers and rotamers were optimized at the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level. The resulting data were used to analyze the π-electron delocalization effect in relation to the methylamino group rotation in ortho-, meta- and para-substitution positions. Quantitative aromaticity indices were calculated based on which we estimated the electronic structures of the analyzed compounds. The substituent effect of the met…
First copper(I) ferrocenyltetraphosphine complexes: possible involvement in Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction ?
2008
Preparation and characterization of the first examples of copper(I) ferrocenylpolyphosphine complexes are reported. The molecular structure of complex {P,P′,P′′-[1,1′,2,2′-tetrakis(diphenylphosphino)-4,4′-di-tert-butylferrocene]iodocopper(I)} (1) was solved by X-ray diffraction studies, and its fluxional behavior in solution was investigated by VT-31P NMR; both revealed a net triligated coordination preference of the ferrocenyl tetraphosphine Fc(P)4tBu with copper. The tetradentate ligand is an active auxiliary in Sonogashira alkynylation; therefore the general question of copper as a competitive coordination partner in the Pd/Cu-catalyzed Sonogashira reaction was raised and discussed. Elec…
Computational study of the spin-forbidden H 2 oxidative addition to 16-electron Fe(0) complexes
2003
International audience; The spin-forbidden oxidative addition of H2 to Fe(CO)4, Fe(PH3)4, Fe(dpe)2 and Fe(dmpe)2 [dpe = H2PCH2CH2PH2, dmpe = (CH3)2PCH2CH2P(CH3)2] has been investigated by density functional theory using a modified B3PW91 functional. All 16-electron fragments are found to adopt a spin triplet ground state. The H2 addition involves a spin crossover in the reagents region of configurational space, at a significantly higher energy relative to the triplet dissociation asymptote and, for the case of Fe(CO)4·H2, even higher than the singlet dissociation asymptote. After crossing to the singlet surface, the addition proceeds directly to the classical cis-dihydride product. Only for…
An aryl-fused redox-active tetrathiafulvalene with enhanced mixed-valence and radical-cation dimer stabilities.
2018
Molecular recognition of stable organic radicals is a relatively novel, but important structural binding motif in supramolecular chemistry. Here, we report on a redox-switchable veratrole-fused tetrathiafulvalene derivative VTTF which is ideally suited for this purpose and for the incorporation into stimuli-responsive systems. As revealed by electrochemistry, UV/Vis measurements, X-ray analysis, and electrocrystallisation, VTTF can be reversibly oxidised to the corresponding radical-cation or dication which shows optoelectronic and structural propterties similar to tetrathiafulvalene and tetrakis(methylthio)tetrathiafulvalene. However, theoretical calculations, variable temperature EPR, and…
A study on stabilization of HHeF molecule upon complexation with Xe atoms
2004
In the present work, we computationally study energetic stabilization of HHeF by its complexation with Xe atoms. For the studied HHeF Xen systems ðn ¼ 1–4; 6Þ, we found a large complexation-induced decrease of energy of HHeF with respect to its dissociation into atoms. As a working hypothesis, we assume that this stabilization effect continues for the larger systems (n > 6) as well. This suggests that dissociation of HHeF via the H–He stretching coordinate might be suppressed and its lifetime might be increased by inserting it into large Xe clusters or matrices. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Kinetic control in the temperature-dependent sequential growth of surface-confined supramolecular copolymers
2017
We report the sequential growth of supramolecular copolymers on gold surfaces, using oppositely charged dendritic peptide amphiphiles. By including water-solubilising thermoresponsive chains in the monomer design, we observed non-linear effects in the temperature-dependent sequential growth. The step-wise copolymerisation process is characterised using temperature dependent SPR and QCM-D measurements. At higher temperatures, dehydration of peripheral oligoethylene glycol chains supports copolymer growth due to more favourable comonomer interactions. Both monomers incorporate methionine amino acids but remarkably, desorption of the copolymers via competing sulphur gold interactions with the …
Spin crossover (SCO) iron(II) coordination polymer chain: Synthesis, structural and magnetic characterizations of [Fe(abpt)2(μ-M(CN)4)] (M=PtII and N…
2013
Abstract New iron(II) coordination polymeric neutral chain of formula [Fe(abpt) 2 (μ-M(CN) 4 )], with M = Pt II ( 1 ), Ni II ( 2 ) and abpt = 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole, have been synthesized and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The two compounds are isostructural as deduced from a Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data of 2 simulated from the single crystal structure of 1 . The crystal packing of 1 is formed by regular chains running along the crystallographic [−1 0 1] direction where the planar [Pt(CN) 4 ] 2− anion acts as a μ 2 -bridging ligand via two nitrogen atoms of two different trans cyano groups, whi…
A versatile rigid binucleating ligand for Rh2(μ-Cl)2 moieties: its application as a catalyst in hydrogenation and cyclopropanation
2003
A rigid non-deforming "MCl 2 M" binucleating ligand [7,8-μ-S(4'-C 6 H 3 (CH 3 ))S-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 ] - able to held the two rhodium atoms in a cooperative distance has been synthesized. The original two bridging chlorides are retained in [Rh 2 (C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Cl 2 {7,8-μ-S(4'-C 6 H 3 (CH 3 ))S-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 }] + . Hydrogenation of 1-hexene is 10 times faster with [Rh 2 (C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Cl 2 {7,8-μ-S(4'-C 6 H 3 (CH 3 ))S-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 }] + than with [Rh 2 (C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Cl 4 ]. A hydrogenation mechanism has been proposed which assumes that [Rh 2 (C 5 Me 5 ) 2 (Cl)(H){7,8-μ-S(4'-C 6 H 3 (CH 3 ))S-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 }] + is the first generated species in the process.

The compounds were characterized by 1H, 13C, 15N, and 119Sn (1–3) nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (1–4). A graph set analysis was performed for compoun…
Photochemically Produced Singlet Oxygen: Applications and Perspectives
2018
This Review aims to provide early stage researchers with an updated guide to applications of photochemically produced singlet oxygen and, at the same time, widen the experienced researcher's perspectives in a holistic approach to singlet oxygen chemistry. Without being exhaustive, literature between 2010 and early 2018 has been surveyed by focusing on a critical evaluation of new knowledge and applications. After an introductory section concerning singlet oxygen production, detection, and interactions with biological systems, subsequent sections describe current applications of singlet-oxygen-enabled technology. Besides strictly chemical synthesis applications, attention has been given to t…
