Abstract Background Embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes (ETMR) are highly aggressive tumors occurring in early childhood. Published clinical data refer to retrospective, heterogeneously treated cohorts. Here, we describe the outcome of patients treated according to the prospective P-HIT trial and subsequent HIT2000-interim-registry. Patients and methods Age-stratified treatment included carboplatin/etoposide induction, tandem high-dose chemotherapy (“CARBO/ETO + HDCT”), and response-stratified radiotherapy. X-ray structure determination of a metastable state of carbonmonoxy myoglobin after photodissociation.

The x-ray structure of carbon monoxide (CO)-ligated myoglobin illuminated during data collection by a laser diode at the wavelength lambda = 690 nm has been determined to a resolution of 1.7 A at T = 36 K. For comparison, we also measured data sets of deoxymyoglobin and CO-ligated myoglobin. In the photon-induced structure the electron density associated with the CO ligand can be described by a tube extending from the iron into the heme pocket over more than 4 A. This density can be interpreted by two discrete positions of the CO molecule. One is close to the heme iron and can be identified to be bound CO. El diario de sesiones del Compromiso de Caspe indica que el Maestro Vicente Ferrer el domingo 17 de abril de 1412 pronunció un sermón poco conocido sobre el tema bíblico 'Fiet unum ouile et unus pastor' (Io 10, 16). Diversos manuscritos e impresos transmiten diferentes estados de su redacción. En este trabajo además de contextualizar en el mencionado Compromiso este sermón, se edita según su tradición textual más genuina.

Monitoring displacements of an earthen dam using GNSS and remote sensing

This paper shows the results of a scientific research in which a GNSS continuous monitoring system for earth-dam deformations has been developed, then, deformations have been related with reservoir water surface and level. The experiment was conducted near Bivona (Sicily, Italy), on the Castello dam (Magazzolo Lake). On the top of the dam three control points were placed and three GNSS permanent stations were installed. The three stations continuously transmitted data to the control centre of the University of Palermo. SAXS Study on Myoglobin Embedded in Amorphous Saccharide Matrices

We report on Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) measurements performed on samples of carboxy-myoglobin and met-myoglobin embedded in low hydrated matrices of four different saccharides (trehalose, sucrose, maltose and lactose). Results confirm the already reported occurrence of inhomogeneities, which are not peculiar of trehalose samples, but appear also in maltose and lactose, and in some cases also sucrose, being dependent on the sample hydration and on the presence of sodium dithionite. This behaviour confirms our previous interpretation about the nature of the inhomogeneities, and prompt it as a possible general behaviour for highly concentrated sugar matrices.

International audience; Après l’étude d’évolutions pédologiques et géochimiques dans l’horizon de surface (van Oort et al., 2016, 2017a), ce nouveau volet du projet de valorisation du dispositif des 42 parcelles de l’Inra de Versailles présente les effets d’apports continus de matières fertilisantes à l’échelle du solum, pour une dizaine de traitements : ammoniacaux, engrais-Na et/ou K, phosphatés, CaCO$_3$, fumier et témoins. Pour chaque traitement, les profils de teneur en éléments (0-120 cm) ont été comparés avec le bilan 1929-2014 en surface (0-25 cm), afin de raisonner la pertinence d’études des impacts d’activités anthropiques, restreintes à l’horizon de surface.
