CLINICAL STUDY OF TRANSVERSAL AUGMENTATION IN BONE DEFECTS OF THE MAXILLARY AESTETHIC AREA
2015
Scope: To outline the importance of autogenic bone graft addition for correcting bone defects in the frontal and lateral maxillary area, and for achieving outstanding esthetic results in cases of large bone defects. Materials and method: A total number of 478 argumentations has been performed in the implantology and dental clinic of the Emergency Military Hospital Sibiu between 2009 and 2013. Results and discussion: The transversal rehabilitation techniques of frontal maxillary ridges, representing 57.2% of all addressed cases, were the most frequent ones, justifying the fact that the frontal maxillary area, aesthetically sensitive, is of special attention for both patients and specialists.…
Informal conversations in a community health program: process evaluation
2013
The measurement invariance of Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) across three university student groups
2016
Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to apply a multigroup confirmatory analysis to examine the measurement invariance (MI) of the adapted version of the Job Diagnosis Survey (JDS) as a measurement tool that analyses the relationship between the features of teaching methodologies with university students’ motivation and satisfaction across data collected on different degrees and academic years. Design/methodology/approach: Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out using a multigroup structural equation model, using the program EQS 6.1 to test the invariance of the adapted version of JDS in a sample constituted by 535 student of a Spanish public university. The assessment of invaria…
A Quantitative Method for Localizing User Interface Problems: The D-TEO Method
2009
A large array of evaluation methods have been propo sed to identify Website usability problems. In log-based evaluation, inform ation about the performance of users is collected and stored into log files, and used to find problems and deficiencies in Web page designs. Most methods require the programming and modeling of large task models, which are cumbersome processes for evaluato rs. Also, because much statistical data is collected onto log files, recognizing which Web pages require deeper usability analysis is difficult. This paper suggests a novel quantitative method, called the D-TEO, for locating problematic Web pages. This semiautoma ted method explores the decomposition of interacti…
Lead Excretion in Spanish Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
2015
Among epigenetic factors leading to increased prevalence of juvenile neuropsychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, exposure to metals, such as lead (Pb) have led to conflicting results. The aim of the present study was to determine the levels of Pb in the urine of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) compared with typically developing children (TD) age- and sex-matched, and to analyze any association between core symptoms of ASD, special diets, supplements intake or prescription drugs and the concentration of Pb. The study was performed in a group of children with ASD (n = 35, average age 7.4 ± 0.5 years) and TD (n = 34, average age 7.7 ± 0.9 years). Measurement of…
Improving quality and safety in nursing homes and home care: the study protocol of a mixed-methods research design to implement a leadership interven…
2018
IntroductionNursing homes and home care face challenges across different countries as people are living longer, often with chronic conditions. There is a lack of knowledge regarding implementation and impact of quality and safety interventions as most research evidence so far is generated in hospitals. Additionally, there is a lack of effective leadership tools for quality and safety improvement work in this context. Methods and analysisThe aim of the ‘Improving Quality and Safety in Primary Care—Implementing a Leadership Intervention in Nursing Homes and Homecare’ (SAFE-LEAD) study is to develop and evaluate a research-based leadership guide for managers to increase quality and safety compe…
Towards the Learning Experience Technology Usability framework
2017
The availability of learning technology has increased over past decades; however, severe usability issues that cause adverse effects on the learning experience can be found in many available technologies. Learning solution usability is commonly evaluated by focusing on either technical or pedagogical usability and rarely both. This artificially separates the two important aspects of learning technology usability. This chapter provides a new framework for designing and evaluating learning solutions that synthesizes the above usability types to consider them a part of a complex and dynamic whole comprising of learning, technological design, content-related issues and context. The proposed Lea…
TEACHER’S SELF-DEVELOPMENT: TEACHER’S SELF-DISCOVERIES REGARDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PEDAGOGICAL PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT DURING PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE
2019
In the 21st century, a special place in education is occupied by sustainable development issues, which emphasize the unique role of education in shaping the public opinion. New pedagogical approaches, which show how education could contribute to the evolution of consciousness, are being sought. A shift of paradigms is happening in education: from knowledge memorization to skills, character, meta-learning (Education 2030: Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development competency framework). The research confirms, to successfully implement the proposed changes in modern pedagogical practice, it is valuable for the teachers to learn the psychology methods and techniques on how to improv…
