<strong>In Silico Repurposing, Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Bisacodyl Analogues</strong>
2018
In a recent article was described in silico repositioning, design, synthesis, biological evaluation and structure-activity relationship (SAR) of an original class of anti-inflammatory agents based on a polyaromatic pharmacophore structurally related to bisacodyl (BSL) drug used in therapeutic as laxative.
Derivatization of tertiary amphetamines with 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate for liquid chromatography: determination of N-methylephedrine.
2000
The fluorogenic reagent 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate (FMOC) was evaluated for the derivatization of tertiary amphetamines prior to liquid chromatographic analysis. Conditions for the derivatization were investigated, including the reaction time, the derivatization reagent concentration and the pH, using N-methylephedrine as a model compound. On the basis of these studies, a method for the quantification of N-methylephedrine is presented. The method involves derivatization with FMOC at ambient temperature and separation of the derivatives formed on a LiChrospher C18, 5 μm, 125 × 4 mm id column using acetonitrile–water gradient elution. The proposed procedure shows good linearity, accuracy…
The Devaluation of Culture and the Devaluation of Education— Problem analysis on the example of selected issues from the humanities and social scienc…
2021
Increasingly, the level of education obtained in European society is related to the level of knowledge about culture and the use of culture itself. At the same time, it is alleged that higher education is now a “commodity” too easily available on the public service markets. In the opinion of some, this reduces the importance of having higher education, but also the state of science itself. The purpose of the article is to show that concepts such as “culture,” “humanities” and “education” are closely related, and therefore, an attempt to lower the meaning of one of these concepts may entail the devaluation of another concept.
Objective, Noninvasive Evaluation of Velopharyngeal Function in Cleft and Noncleft Patients
1998
Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate a new diagnostic method that provides an approach to noninvasive, objective measurement of velopharyngeal movement by acoustic determination of epipharyngeal volume changes with velopharyngeal muscle function. Design This was a case control study, using consecutive samples. Setting This study took place at the Cleft Palate Rehabilitation Center of the University of Mainz, Germany. Patients Subjects were 29 consecutive cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients and 31 controls (21 patients with dysgnathia and 10 healthy volunteers). Intervention A series of transnasal acoustic measurements (pressure wave: 55 dB for 2 milliseconds) of epipharyng…
Detection of enteric adenoviruses 40 and 41 in stool specimens by monoclonal antibody-based enzyme immunoassays
1996
To examine the role of enteric adenoviruses (Ad40 and Ad41) in children with acute gastroenteritis, we evaluated 273 children with diarrhoea and 137 without enteric symptoms in Palermo, Italy, during an 8-month period. Stools were tested by two home-made monoclonal-based ELISAs to detected genus-specific adenovirus antigen and to type Ad40 and Ad41. Twenty-five samples (6.1%) were found to contain adenovirus, 18 of which were grown in Graham 293 and in HEp-2 cells. Ad40 and Ad41 were detected in 2.6% of children with diarrhoea and in none in the control group, while non-enteric adenoviruses were obtained from both patients (3.2%) and controls (6.5%). Samples containing Ad40 and Ad41 were po…
Isolation, structure elucidation, and biological evaluation of the unusual heterodimer chrysoxanthone from the ascomycete IBWF11-95A
2009
Chrysoxanthone, an unusual heterodimer of blennolide A and 2-hydroxychrysophanol linked through a diaryl ether bridge, was isolated from mycelia of the ascomycete IBWF11-95A grown in submerged culture. Its structure was elucidated by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. The metabolite shows antibacterial activity against different species with MIC values between 2.5 and 20 μg/mL while also inhibiting the growth of several fungi.
Direct synthesis of C3-mono-functionalized oxindoles from N-unprotected 2-oxindole and their antileishmanial activity.
2014
A novel approach for the synthesis of unprecedented C3-mono-functionalized indolin-2-ones is reported, starting from 2-oxindole and chalcones. The reactions proceed regioselectively under mild conditions, without di- and tri-alkylated side products. The new compounds have been evaluated in vitro for their antiproliferative effects against the protozoan Leishmania infantum. Interestingly, they appear able to kill L. infantum promastigotes and amastigotes, without significant cytotoxic effects.
El rol del modelo de las competencias en la reconfiguración meritocrática de las pautas de negociación salarial en empresas argentinas: continuidades…
2020
The development of new models of work organization and the complementary advance of flexible guidelines for the use of the labor force had as a correlate a profound change in techniques for the evaluation of workers. Thus, the typical model of Fordism, based on qualifications, was replaced by a different one based on competencies, whereby the strong relationship of the former was abandoned with the determination of the technical knowledge required for each job to move to a system which the priority is placed in the individual attitude. The consequent individualization of performance evaluations can lead to a possible loss of objectivity. In this article we develop a theoretical comparison b…
A model for managing and evaluating solar radiation for indoor thermal comfort
2007
Thermal comfort of people occupying indoor spaces depends, to a large extent, on the direct component of solar radiation incident on the human body. In turn, even the diffuse component of the solar radiation could affect the thermal sensations of people. Despite this evidence, at the present there is a lack in the availability of simple and reliable methods capable of taking into account the influence of the solar radiation on thermal balance in the human body. In this work a comprehensive method is presented for the computation of the mean radiant temperature of people in thermal moderate indoor environments in the presence of solar radiation. The effects produced on the amount of solar ra…
