Effect of selected triterpenoids on chronic dermal inflammation.

1997

The activity of four natural triterpenoids on a 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate multiple-dose model of skin chronic inflammation was studied. Erythrodiol and ursolic acid were significantly effective. The most important features concerning structure-activity relationship and previous data on the effect of these triterpenoids on other inflammatory conditions are discussed.

INTRODUZIONE AL D.LGS. 19 GENNAIO 2017, N. 3, DI ATTUAZIONE DELLA DIR. 2014/104/UE SUL RISARCIMENTO DEI DANNI PER VIOLAZIONE DELLA NORMATIVA ANTITRUST

2018

With the issuance of Legislative Decree January 19, 2017, no. 3 was implemented the…

Influence of dopexamine on hemodynamics, intramucosal pH, and regulators of the macrocirculation and microcirculation in patients undergoing abdomina…

2000

Abstract Objective: To investigate whether dopexamine hydrochloride beneficially influences splanchnic perfusion and regulators of the macrocirculation and microcirculation in patients undergoing surgery of the abdominal aorta. Design: Prospective, blinded, and randomized study. Setting: University-affiliated hospital. Participants: Twenty patients undergoing elective abdominal aortic surgery. Interventions: The patients were randomized to one of two groups. In the dopexamine group (DOP, n = 10), dopexamine, 1 μg/kg/min, was started before surgery and continued for 24 hours. In the control group (COG, n = 10), patients received saline solution as placebo. Extensive hemodynamic monitoring wa…

Controlling protein interactions in blood for effective liver immunosuppressive therapy by silica nanocapsules

2020

Immunosuppression with glucocorticoids is a common treatment for autoimmune liver diseases and after liver transplant, which is however associated with severe side-effects. Targeted delivery of glucocorticoids to inflammatory cells, e.g. liver macrophages and Kupffer cells, is a promising approach for minimizing side effects. Herein, we prepare core–shell silica nanocapsules (SiO2 NCs) via a sol–gel process confined in nanodroplets for targeted delivery of dexamethasone (DXM) for liver immunosuppressive therapy. DXM with concentrations up to 100 mg mL−1 in olive oil are encapsulated while encapsulation efficiency remains over 95% after 15 days. Internalization of NCs by non-parenchymal muri…

Isolated, Subtle Neurological Abnormalities in Mild Cognitive Impairment Types.

2019

Isolated, subtle neurological abnormalities (ISNA) are commonly seen in aging and have been related to cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) and subcortical atrophy in neurologically and cognitively healthy aging subjects. To investigate the frequency of ISNA in different mild cognitive impairment (MCI) types and to evaluate for each MCI type, the cross-sectional relation between ISNA and white matter hyperintensities (WMH), lacunes, caudate atrophy, and ventricular enlargement. One thousand two hundred fifty subjects with different MCI types were included in the analysis and underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging. WMHs were assessed through two visual rating scales. Lacunes were also rated…

Dexamethasone modulates α2-macroglobulin and apolipoprotein E gene expression in cultured rat liver fat-storing (Ito) cells

1991

Fat-storing (Ito) cells are perisinusoidal liver cells thought to play a central role in vitamin A metabolism and fibrogenesis. Glucocorticoids have been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of certain types of liver diseases by delaying the development of cirrhosis. To study the regulatory effects of dexamethasone on Ito cell gene expression, Ito cells were isolated from normal rat liver and primary cultures were established. The effect of dexamethasone on the synthesis of α2-macroglobulin, apolipoprotein E, fibronectin and actin was examined. Protein synthesis was studied both at the protein level and at the RNA level by means of biosynthetic labeling, immunoprecipitation followed by s…

Oscillation criteria for even-order neutral differential equations

2016

Abstract We study oscillatory behavior of solutions to a class of even-order neutral differential equations relating oscillation of higher-order equations to that of a pair of associated first-order delay differential equations. As illustrated with two examples in the final part of the paper, our criteria improve a number of related results reported in the literature.

Asymptotic behavior for the heat equation in nonhomogeneous media with critical density

2013

Abstract We study the long-time behavior of solutions to the heat equation in nonhomogeneous media with critical singular density | x | − 2 ∂ t u = Δ u , in  R N × ( 0 , ∞ ) in dimensions N ≥ 3 . The asymptotic behavior proves to have some interesting and quite striking properties. We show that there are two completely different asymptotic profiles depending on whether the initial data u 0 vanishes at x = 0 or not. Moreover, in the former the results are true only for radially symmetric solutions, and we provide counterexamples to convergence to symmetric profiles in the general case.

EMG activity of pigeon oesophagus in vivo.

1982

At rest, the pigeon cervical oesophagus, which is entirely smooth muscle, shows electric activity. This activity consists of bursts of spikes with frequency increasing in the oral-aboral direction. The bursts are un-phase locked, and there are no slow waves (E.C.A.). The surgical transection of the oesophageal muscular wall does not affect the electric activity even in a disconnected segment. After asphyxia electric activity persists, whereas the aboral gradient of frequency disappears. Therefore, the electric activity is thought to be myogenic in origin, and the frequency gradient nervous in origin. Atropine and neostigmine administration suggests that the cholinergic system modulates the …
