Leberfunktion von Ratten nach chronischer VerfÜtterung von90Sr

1966

Elimination kinetics of synthetic interferon inducer tilorone in experimental animals

2017

Objective. A comparative investigation was carried out on the kinetics of [3H]-tilorone ([3H]-I) excretion in rats and mice. Materials and method. Kinetics of urinary and biliary excretion of [3H]-I in rats and mice was studied following a single oral and intravenous administration. The excretion mass balance was monitored in the faeces and urine of rats and mice for 5 and 10 days, respectively. Radioactivity was determined in the samples of excreta using a liquid scintillation counter. Results. In rats, [3H]-I were nearly fully (~80%) eliminated with excreta in 5 days, indicating a lack of any significant accumulation of the drug in the body. Faecal excretion of tilorone predominated (69.0…

Dietary fish protein lowers blood pressure and alters tissue polyunsaturated fatty acid composition in spontaneously hypertensive rats.

2003

Abstract Objectives To investigate the effect of two types of dietary protein on blood pressure, liver fatty acid desaturation and composition, and urine 6-keto-prostaglandin-F (PGF1α) level, the metabolite of prostacyclin. Methods 5-wk-old spontaneously hypertensive rats were fed 20% casein or purified fish protein. The fat source was 5% ISIO oil, which contains 47.9% (ω-6) and 1.7% (ω-3) total polyunsaturated fatty acids. After 2 mo on the diet, systolic blood pressure was reduced with fish protein compared with casein (189.8 ± 10.5 versus 220.7 ± 8.7). Results Excretion of 6-keto-PGF1α in urine was negatively correlated with blood pressure. Liver cholesterol and phospholipid concentratio…

Glutathione metabolism under the influence of hydroperoxides in the lactating mammary gland of the rat. Effect of glucose and extracellular ATP.

1987

Tert-butyl hydroperoxide decreases GSH and total free glutathione (GSH+2GSSG) contents of acini from lactating mammary glands. The decrease in total free glutathione can be explained by an increase in mixed disulfide formation and by excretion of GSS G to the extracellular medium, and subsequent degradation catalyzed by gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase. Low concentrations of glucose prevented the changes in glutathione levels induced by the peroxide. In the presence of extracellular ATP, glucose did not prevent these changes. However, incubations with the peroxide, did not alter the rate of other metabolic pathways by acini.

An approach to the diazinon toxicity in the European eel: bioaccumulation studies

1993

Abstract The acute toxicity effects of diazinon on European eel ( Anguilla anguilla ) were examined using short-term exposures in static conditions. In these conditions the 96-h median lethal concentration (LC 50 ) was 0.086 mg/1. In addition, the eels were exposed to two sublethal diazinon concentrations, 0.042 and 0.056 mg/1 (1/2 and 2/3 LC 50 96-h, respectively) for different exposure times, till a maximum of 96 h, and bioaccumulation and clearance of this insecticide in liver, muscle, gill and blood tissues were studied. BCF values of diazinon after 96 h exposure to 0.042 mg/l were 1850 in liver, 875 in gill and 775 in eel muscle. BCF values of diazinon over a 48-h exposure period to 0.…

Pesticide toxicokinetics in fish: accumulation and elimination.

1998

Bioaccumulation of fenitrothion in the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) was studied using two sublethal concentrations of this pesticide in a flow-through test system. The pesticide concentrations used were one-tenth (0.002 ppm) and one-fifth (0.04 ppm) the 96-h LC50 of fenitrothion in this species. Steady state was reached early (2 h) when the animals were exposed to 0.02 ppm of toxicant, and after 48 h when the animals were exposed to 0.04 ppm. Toxicokinetic parameters for fenitrothion in eel muscle (K1, K2, and T1/2) were calculated for both experiments. The highest bioconcentration factor was calculated for animals exposed to 0.04 ppm of toxicant, indicating the relationship between the…

Exocrine Pancreatic Function in Girls with Anorexia Nervosa

2021

Objectives: To assess pancreatic exocrine function in patients with anorexia nervosa using a breath test with 13C-labeled mixed triglycerides (MTG-BT) and to determine the relationship between the test results and selected biochemical and hormonal parameters. Material and methods: Anthropometric measurements, biochemical and hormonal parameters (serum leptin, soluble leptin receptor (sLR), acylated and desacylated ghrelin, free leptin index (FLI)), and MTG-BT were performed in a group of 31 girls with the restrictive type of AN, as well as 38 healthy girls (C). Results: The average cumulative dose of 13C-triglycerides recovered with exhaled air (%CD) was similar in both study groups, while …

Evidence of competitive inhibition of methotrexate absorption by leucovorin calcium in rat small intestine

1997

Abstract The effect of leucovorin calcium on the intestinal absorption of methotrexate in rat small intestine was investigated using an in situ rat gut technique. First, the kinetic absorption in situ parameters for methotrexate in solution were obtained: V m =21.54 (±2.22) μ M/h; K m =10.51 (±1.08) μ M; k a =0.26 (±0.03) h −1 and AIC=−188.63. The inhibitory effect of leucovorin calcium in methotrexate intestinal absorption has been investigated by perfusing of 10 μ M methotrexate isotonic solutions containing increasing concentrations of leucovorin calcium (10–500 μ M), and the remaining concentrations of both compounds were measured. A competitive inhibition of methotrexate absorption was…
