Disorders associated with burnout and causal attributions of stress among health care professionals in psychiatry

2008

Abstract This study, carried out among health care professionals in psychiatry, evaluates burnout (Maslash Burnout Inventory) in relation to other associated disorders: lower levels of self-esteem in different areas (Self-Esteem Inventory); the frequency of stress felt (Nursing Stress Scale); a lesser feeling of general control (Lumpkin); a more negative perception of the general state of health (Diagnostic Interview Schedule); job dissatisfaction and dissatisfaction with numerous aspects of life (Subjective Quality of Life Profile). The Relationship Between the Burnout Syndrome Dimensions and Body Mass Index as a Moderator Variable on Obese Managers in the Mexican Maquiladora Ind…

2021

Burnout syndrome (BS) and obesity are two growing conditions that affect employees’ health and company productivity. Recently, several studies have pointed to a possible relationship between both phenomena. However, such a relationship has not been clearly defined. This research analyzes the relationship between BS dimensions and body mass index (BMI), the latter being treated as a moderator variable among obese senior and middle managers in the Mexican maquiladora industry through a structural equation model. A total of 361 senior and middle managers (124 of them classified as obese under the World Health Organization’s criteria) completed both the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey …

The importance of psychological variables in the perceived exertion of young football players

2017

Study engagement and burnout profiles among Finnish higher education students

2017

A person-oriented approach was applied to identify profiles of study engagement and burnout (i.e., exhaustion, cynicism, inadequacy) in higher education in a large and representative sample of 12,394 higher education students at different phases of their studies in universities and polytechnics in Finland. Four profiles were identified: Engaged (44%), engaged-exhausted (30%) inefficacious (19%) and burned-out (7%). The engaged students had the most positive engagement accompanied with the least burnout symptoms compared to other groups. The engaged-exhausted students experienced emotional exhaustion simultaneously with academic engagement. The inefficacious group had heightened experience o…

Risk Factors for Parental Burnout among Finnish Parents: The Role of Socially Prescribed Perfectionism

2019

Abstract Objectives Although parental burnout can have detrimental consequences to families, the investigation of the syndrome is still in its infancy. The present study investigated what are the key family background variables that contribute to parental burnout among Finnish parents. Moreover, we investigated how self-oriented and socially prescribed perfectionism uniquely and interactively relate to parental burnout over and above the impacts of background variables. Methods Questionnaire-based data was collected from 1725 parents (91% mothers) and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results The results showed that when several family- and child-related background variable…
