On Grinbergs' differential geometry and finite fields

Emanuels Grinbergs, in his youth, during ten years, from 1933 until 1943, wrote three dissertations on one subject, namely, differential geometry [1, 2, 3]. We think that his work in this direction has been neglected for many years, and it is the last time to try to understand the significance of these works. Here, in this short article we touch only one aspect of this work, and compare and put together two approaches, one from thesis of Grinbergs [3], and another, of the author's, [5, 6], where we show close relation between both.

A novel MUC1-glycopeptide–BSA conjugate vaccine with a specifically fluorinated Thomsen–Friedenreich antigen side chain at Thr6 was prepared. Preliminary immunological experiments reveal specific binding of the tumor-associated glycopeptide antigen analog by anti-MUC1-mouse antibodies.

Ozone-Based Atomic Layer Deposition of Al2O3 from Dimethylaluminum Chloride and Its Impact on Silicon Surface Passivation

Dimethylaluminum chloride (DMACl) as an aluminum source has shown promising potential to replace more expensive and commonly used trimethylaluminum in the semiconductor industry for atomic layer deposited (ALD) thin films. Here, the Al2O3 DMACl-process is modified by replacing the common ALD oxidant, water, by ozone that offers several benefits including shorter purge time, layer-by-layer growth, and improved film adhesion. It is shown that the introduction of the ozone instead of water increases carbon and chlorine content in the Al2O3, while long ozone pulses increase the amount of interfacial hydrogen at silicon surface. Wii-bändi : designing an expressive digital musical interface for therapeutic use with disabled people in a group setting

This thesis presents the developmental prototype of a gesturally controlled digital musical interface. It is called Wii-bändi, as it uses Nintendo Wii controllers to translate the gestures into music, and is constructed specifically for clients with a variety of physical and mental disabilities so that they can use it in a therapeutic group context. It is argued that gestural and emotional expressivity might be based on a theory of vitality affects, and that optimal learnability could be achieved through making use of learning schemas. Structure−Dynamics Coupling between Protein and External Matrix in Sucrose-Coated and in Trehalose-Coated MbCO: An FTIR Study

We performed FTIR measurements on carboxy-myoglobin (MbCO) embedded in a sucrose−water matrix to study the degrees of freedom coupling between protein and external matrix in such a system. The work was undertaken on the light of recent results by Giuffrida et al. (J. Phys. Chem. B 2003, 107, 13211−13217), who evidenced, in trehalose-coated MbCO, a structured water−sugar environment of the protein, tightly coupled to the heme pocket structure. Such information was obtained through a suitable analysis of the temperature dependence of the CO stretching and of the water association bands in samples of different content of residual water.
