Effect of Molybdate on Corrosion Performance of Oxide Coating Produced on 7075 Al Alloy Using PEO

In this research, plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coatings were prepared on 7075 Al alloy in a silicate-based solution with Na2MoO4 additive using a unipolar waveform at constant current density. The coatings displayed micro-pores, micro-cracks, pancake-like and crater-like features, and also solidified molten oxide particles on the surface. The coatings were majorly composed of Al2O3 (γ, δ, and α), SiO2 (amorphous), and MoO3 phases, which confirms the incorporation of molybdenum in the case of additive-containing coatings. Due to the safety challenges associated with the use of trimethylaluminum as a metal precursor for the deposition of alumina, different chemicals have been investigated over the years to replace it. The authors have investigated the use of aluminum tri-isopropoxide (TIPA) as an alternative alkoxide precursor for the safe and cost-effective deposition of alumina. In this work, TIPA is used as a stable Al source for atomic layer deposition (ALD) of Al2O3 when different oxidizing agents including water, oxygen plasma, water plasma, and ozone are employed. Strong coupling between surface plasmon polaritons and \beta-carotene in nanolayered system

In this article we experimentally demonstrate the strong coupling between surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) and the S2 state of β-carotene. The SPPs are excited by prism coupling technique on a thin silver film with β-carotene embedded in a polymer layer on top of that. Rabi splittings with energies 80 and 130 meV are observed in the recorded dispersion relations. Both coupled oscillator model and transfer matrix method are used to fit the experimental results. The scattered radiation of the propagating strongly coupled SPP-S2 hybrids is collected and an increase of the low energy splitting to 120 meV is observed compared to the reflectivity data. Characterization of thin plastic foils for applications in X-ray optics technology

Thin plastic foils are being investigated to build shell optics for X-ray telescopes. Compared to polished glass optics, the advantage is in terms of increased collecting area, light weight and lower cost. Plastic material is also desirable to allow deformation into a complete surface of revolution. Drainage inlets efficiency and its impact on pluvial flooding hazard evaluation uncertainty

Flooding events in urban areas occur quite frequently as a consequence of rain events of lower intensity than the design one, even in case of correct network dimensioning. Inlets are in those cases the critical nodes, and efficient drainage is only ensured when care is taken on their appropriate design and positioning within the pluvial flood-prone areas. Ce bassin de population, marqué par des contraintes fortes, est un véritable espace vécu dans le sens où il est structuré par des aires de recrutement résultant des pratiques spatiales des élèves et de leurs familles. Une étude approfondie des structures et des dynamiques spatiales de ce bassin permet de tirer quelques leçons quant au fonctionnement d'un territoire scolaire.
