Psychological and behavioral outcomes of social media-induced fear of missing out at the workplace

2021

Abstract The intense proliferation of social media platforms into every facet of human lives has engaged researchers' attention towards understanding their adverse influences, referred to as the dark side of social media (DoSM) in the evolving literature. A relatively unexplored context in this regard is employees' personal use of social media during work hours and its impact on work-related outcomes. Since using social media during work hours can have implications for work performance and productivity, the lack of research in the area needs to be addressed by scholars sooner rather than later. Specifically, it is important to understand the drivers and outcomes of such behaviour. We have t…

High-pressure Raman investigation of high index facets bounded alpha-Fe2O3 pseudocubic crystals

2021

[EN] High index facet bounded alpha-Fe2O3 pseudocubic crystals has gained the attention of the scientific community due to its promising electrochemical sensing response towards aqueous ammonia. The structural stability of alpha-Fe2O3 pseudocubic crystals is investigated through high-pressure Raman spectroscopy up to 22.2 GPa, and those results are compared with our ab initio theoretical calculations. The symmetry of the experimental Raman-active modes has been assigned by comparison with theoretical data. In addition to the Raman-active modes, two additional Raman features are also detected, whose intensity increases with compression. The origin of these two additional peaks addressed in t…

Faceting and structural anisotropy of nanopatterned CdO(110) layers

2005

CdO(110) layers with a self-organized surface structure have been grown on (10math0) sapphire (m plane) substrates by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy. The epitaxial relationships between layer and substrate have been determined and a crystallographic model that accounts for the CdO in-plane orientation, which results in a reduced lattice mismatch when the CdO[001] direction is perpendicular to the sapphire c axis, has been proposed. Although the measured lattice parameters indicate that the layers are almost fully relaxed, an anisotropic mosaicity is detected with symmetrical rocking curves attaining minimum values when measured along the CdO[math10] direction. The layer morphology consis…

Contributions of longitudinal studies to evolving definitions and knowledge of developmental dyscalculia

2013

Abstract In the last 20 years, longitudinal studies have demonstrated that it is important to attend to the stability of mathematical performance over time as a facet of dyscalculia, that the manifestation of mathematics difficulties changes with development, and that individual differences in cognitive profiles and learning trajectories observed in children with mathematics difficulties implicate differences between dyscalculic and non-dyscalculic subgroups. Intra-individual differences over time, and external factors related to children's learning environments, also contribute to performance trajectories; moreover, these factors may explain the inconsistent performance profiles observed a…

Diffusion processes and growth on aluminum cluster surfaces

1997

Diffusion processes of adatoms on icosahedral and Wulff polyhedral aluminum cluster surfaces have been studied by molecular dynamics simulations using the effective medium theory. Activation energies of diffusion mechanisms along {111} and {100} facets and from one facet to another, including different hopping and exchange processes as well as more exotic events, have been calculated. Exchange diffusion of an adatom by a chain mechanism through a {100} facet between two {111} facets and hopping diffusion across the edge between two {111} facets via a pull of another adatom on the neighbour facet are shown to play an important role. Adatoms on {111} facets are mobile already at very low temp…

111 oriented gold nanoplatelets on multilayer graphene as visible light photocatalyst for overall water splitting

2016

[EN] Development of renewable fuels from solar light appears as one of the main current challenges in energy science. A plethora of photocatalysts have been investigated to obtain hydrogen and oxygen from water and solar light in the last decades. However, the photon-to-hydrogen molecule conversion is still far from allowing real implementation of solar fuels. Here we show that 111 facet-oriented gold nanoplatelets on multilayer graphene films deposited on quartz is a highly active photocatalyst for simulated sunlight overall water splitting into hydrogen and oxygen in the absence of sacrificial electron donors, achieving hydrogen production rate of 1.2 molH2 per gcomposite per h. This phot…

The impact of state affect on job satisfaction

2005

Affective events theory proposes affective experiences at work to cause job satisfaction. Using multiple measurements obtained in a diary study, affective experiences in terms of state positive and state negative affect (PA, NA) were related to state job satisfaction (N = 91). Trait measures were also collected. Results confirmed our hypothesis. First, aggregated state job satisfaction is strongly correlated with trait job satisfaction. Second, the relationship between state affect and state job satisfaction is not spurious: State affect impacts on state job satisfaction even if trait affect and trait job satisfaction are controlled. Third, the effect of state affect on job satisfaction mea…

Diffusion on aluminum-cluster surfaces and the cluster growth

1998

Diffusion of adatoms have been studied on fcc polyhedral aluminum-cluster surfaces by molecular-dynamics simulations using the effective-medium theory. Diffusion of adatoms has been shown to take place by hopping along ${111}$ facets at very low temperatures. Diffusion from one ${111}$ facet to other ${111}$ facets takes place at higher temperatures through a variety of mechanisms, and finally diffusion to and along ${100}$ facets takes place at high temperatures. Diffusion from ${100}$ to ${111}$ facets is possible only close to the melting temperature of the cluster. The appearance of different diffusion processes as a function of temperature is in good agreement with the calculated activ…

New facets and an enhanced branch-and-cut for the min-max K -vehicles windy rural postman problem

2011

[EN] The min-max windy rural postman problem is a multiple vehicle version of the windy rural postman problem, WRPP, which consists of minimizing the length of the longest route to find a set of balanced routes for the vehicles. In a previous paper, an ILP formulation and a partial polyhedral study were presented, and a preliminary branch-and-cut algorithm that produced some promising computational results was implemented. In this article, we present further results for this problem. We describe several new facet-inducing inequalities obtained from the WRPP, as well as some inequalities that have to be satisfied by any optimal solution. We present an enhanced branch-and-cut algorithm that t…
