Epigenetic regulation of sex differences in susceptibility to stress

Under current diagnostics depression and stress related mood disorders have a higher occurrence in women than men. Little is known of the biological mechanisms contributing to these sex differences and how they may impact potential new therapeutics. Here we examine how DNA methylation contributes to sex specific stress vulnerability in adult animals. Mice of both sexes were exposed to variable stress and given a behavioral test battery to examine stress sensitivity. D vitamīna deficīts ir izplatīts visā pasaulē, jo īpaši Ziemeļu valstīs. D vitamīna deficīts saistīts ar samazināto ultravioleto starojumu. D vitamīns ne tikai uzlabo kaulu veselību, bet arī ir iesaistīts daudzu citu funkciju veikšanā. Darba mērķis bija veikt apkopoto datu analīzi par D vitamīnu saturošu preparātu apriti Sentor Farm Gulbju aptiekā, 2015. gada laikā, kā arī noskaidrot, kādi ir vidējie D vitamīna analīžu rādītāji. Apkopojot datus tiek secināts, ka pieprasītākais preparāts bijis Vigantol Oel 0,5 mg / mL un Calcigran Forte Flex. D vitamīnu saturošo preparātu pieprasījuma svārstības pa sezonām ir minimālas. The role of regional competitiveness in shaping the heterogeneous impact of the Great Recession

This paper assesses the employment resilience of 202 European regions to the Great Recession by investigating the role of regional competitiveness. By using the regional shift component derived from a multiple bases shift–share analysis of employment change as a measure of regional endogenous employment growth, we show that pre‐crisis regional competitiveness determinants are associated with positive performances during the crisis period. However, the variables considered explain well the different vulnerability of the economies, but less convincingly the ability to recover. Celem opracowania jest wskazanie na rolę instytucji w kreowaniu lokalnych (regionalnych) biobiznesów. Lokalne biobiznesy opierają się na unikatowym wykorzystaniu zarówno standardowych, jak i specyficznych zasobów terytoriów, w których są zakładane. Analizę przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem trzech wymiarów transformacji europejskiego modelu rolnictwa: regulacji środowiskowych, dyfuzji wiedzy i informacji oraz powiązań międzyorganizacyjnych i społecznych. UPTAKE OF SILICA COVERED QUANTUM DOTS ON LIVING CELLS: LONG TERM VITALITY AND MORPHOLOGY STUDY ON HYALURONIC ACID BIOMATERIALS

In this work we prepared colloidal CdSe-CdS core-shell nanocrystal emitting @625 nm and, by a micro-emulsion procedure of water in oil inverse micelle, we encapsulated a single dot inside each silica sphere. In this way the nanoparticles became biocompatible, are simply to prepare and could be used also in a water based environment. Moreover, the silica shield is transparent to the wavelengths of interest.
