Penicillium lanoso-viride AMP dezamināzes attīrīšana, izmantojot kolonnu hromatogrāfiju
2016
Results of an Open Clinical Trial of Brofaromine (CGP 11 305 A), a Competitive, Selective, and Short-Acting Inhibitor of MAO-A in Major Endogenous De…
1987
In an open clinical trial the authors treated 18 hospitalized patients suffering from endogenous depression with brofaromine (CGP 11305A), a competitive, selective, and short-acting inhibitor of type A monoamine oxidase (MAO). Four patients were defined as good responders, as they had a final HAMD score of between 0 and 7 points. Four patients were judged as improved, with final HAMD scores of between 8 and 15 points, while the remaining eight patients failed to respond (final HAMD score greater than or equal to 16 points). The major observations were a beneficial influence on drive in most patients, while paranoid symptoms worsened markedly, rendering the substance contraindicated in psych…

Limits and Criticalities of Predictions and Forecasting in Complex Social and Economic Scenarios: A Cybernetics Key
2014
Predictions play a key role in assuring the status of “rationality” in decisions. Nevertheless, in the field of social sciences and economics, predictions fail to correctly depict the oncoming scenarios. Why is it so difficult to achieve quantitative prediction of social and economic systems? Can science provide reliable predictions of social and economic paths that can be used to implement effective interventions? As in the notorious “El Farol bar problem” depicted by Brian Arthur (Am Econ Rev 84:406–411, 1994), the validity of predictive models is more a social issue than a matter of good mathematics. Predictability in social systems is due to limited knowledge of society and human behavi…

«La speranza de’ regni». Celebrazione e spettacolo in tre 'feste' napoletane: Paisiello (1768), Jommelli (1772), Cafaro (1775)
2011
The genre of 'festa teatrale' had a large diffusion and a great social and political importance in the Neapolitan culture of the Eighteenth Century. The article examines three main examples, created in connection with crucial dynastic events: the marriage of the young king Ferdinand IV with Maria Carolina of Absburg in 1768, the birth of their first daughter in 1772, and the birth of their first son (and hereditary prince) in 1775. The librettos and the scores are analyzed in detail, with a specific focus on allegorical and celebratory features.
Pasquale Cafaro - Il natal d'Apollo, partitura

Description of the score of Pasquale Cafaro's "Il natal d'Apollo", a 'festa teatrale' on text by Saverio Matteri composed to celebrate the birth of prince Carlo Tito (1775), son of the kings of Naples Ferdinand IV and Maria Carolina, with brief discussion of the most interesting dramaturgical and musical features.
Moving beyond the collateral effects of the Patrimonialisation: The Faro Convention and the ‘Commonification’ of Cultural Heritage
2015
How can the potentialities of the Faro Framework Convention be improved if they are put in relation to the paradigm of the ‘commons’ and to its innovative democratic capacity in terms of social justice and inclusive principles and values? After having underlined the main elements of innovation which characterize the Faro Convention, especially with respect to the intangible cultural heritage, the diverse risks which can affect the patrimonialization of cultural heritage are taken into account, paying particular attention to the processes of identitarian instrumentalization; folklorization and museification; urban and social disaggregation. In order to avoid these risks, the ‘commons’ approa…
