Apogeum i kres stalinowskich obchodów Święta Pracy na Śląsku Opolskim (część 1)
2016
The Labor Day that falls on the May 1, was one of the most important events in Poland during the communist period. The celebrations were preceded by long-term preparations. Since the beginning of March, the society undertook May Day deeds. A few weeks before Labor Day, committees were formed, which ensured that the celebrations would proceed in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Committee of the PUWP. In the last days of April, in schools, clubs and workplaces, May Day academies were organized. On April 30, the most important academy was set up in Opole, namely the provincial. The program of the events proceeded according to the agreed scenario: initiated with speeches of party d…
Apogeum i kres stalinowskich obchodów Święta Pracy na Śląsku Opolskim (część 2)
2017
The article analyses the course of the May Day celebrations in Opole Silesia. Starting early in the morning on the Labourer's Day, propaganda slogans and reports of accomplished May Day actions were broadcast, and delegates from various workplaces, organisations and institutions gathered in order to participate in the manifestations. The main culminating point of the celebration agenda was the parade which set off after speeches delivered by the representatives of the party authorities. The parades were organised in all of the cities and all the commune centres. The parade in Opole had the largest number of participants in the region - in 1955, it gathered 50,000 people. Individual workplac…
Apogeum i kres stalinowskich obchodów Święta Pracy na Śląsku Opolskim (część 3)
2018
Aside from the official part of the celebrations, Labour Day included the entertainment part as well. In the afternoon of the lst of May numerous art and sport events, as well as games, lotteries etc. were organised in Opole and in other major localities of the voivodeship. These were received with acclamation by the community, and they noted considerable turnout. For that day the authorities arranged sale of products that were difficult to purchase on a daily basis, which constituted one more attraction of May Day celebrations. In the years 1949-1952 numerous Street fund-raisings were carried out among the participants of May Day events, and their outcomes in Opole voivodeship were judged …
Fate of aerobic granular sludge in the long-term: The role of EPSs on the clogging of granular sludge porosity
2016
This work aims to investigate the stability of aerobic granular sludge in the long term, focusing on the clogging of the granular sludge porosity exerted by the extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs). The effects of different cycle lengths (short and long-term cycle) on the granular sludge stability were investigated. Results obtained outlined that during the short duration cycle, the formation and breakage of the aerobic granules were continuously observed. During this period, the excess of EPS production contributed to the clogging of the granules porosity, causing their breakage in the long run. During the long-duration cycle, the extended famine period entailed a greater EPSs consump…
Ryt oczyszczenia, celebrowanie Paschy i święta Namiotów w ujęciu proroka Ezechiela (Ez 45,18-25)
2019
Będą to święta wyzn…
Commensality in the Late Bronze Age : places and practices : the contribution of recent discoveries in the south-east of the Paris Basin
2021
This doctoral dissertation uses data from the extensive preventive archaeological research carried out in the Upper Seine Valley in the south-east of the Paris Basin for at least five decades an area where Bronze Age and Early Iron Age sites are numerous and generally well preserved. The 2005 excavation by Inrap of the Villiers-sur-Seine site "le Gros Buisson", an "unusual" settlement dating to the final phase of the Late Bronze Age (9th century B.C.) is the main focus of this study, having shed new light on domestic contexts of this pivotal period. This fortified aristocratic dwelling is characterised by an organised plan, abundant artefacts, as well as the unusual consumption of young pig…
The role of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) on aerobic granules formation: comparison between a case of synthetic wastewater supply and anot…
2015
The paper focused on the evolution of extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs) content during the granulation process in two Granular Sequencing Batch Airlift Reactors (GSBAR) (3,5 L) fed with synthetic and industrial wastewater. Results showed that EPSs, in particular proteins (PN) were mainly produced during the feast phase because of high substrate availability, especially under conditions of metabolic stress. Than EPSs content reduced during the famine period. More in detail, during the granulation process, a greater polysaccharides (PS) consumption occurred in both reactors, while PN content reduced significantly only in R2. As a result PN/PS ratio increased significantly during granu…
Animal Remains in Burials
2022
International audience; Archaeological analyses have the potential to reveal the role of animals in funerary practices from past societies. This aspect of the relationship between humans and animals as glimpsed from the perspective of burials, benefits from favourable taphonomic conditions due to the care taken in the deposition of the remains and their rapid burial, that protects them from the action of scavengers and weathering. However, positive taphonomic conditions are not always sufficient to provide all of the answers to the questions raised by the animal remains present in burials. Indeed, practices are very diverse across the world and through time, but can also vary between two co…
