GHOST: GRADIENT HISTOGRAM OF SPECTRAL TEXTURE

2021

International audience; A gradient-based texture feature for hyperspectral image is formulated with straightforward application to grayscale and color images. Processed in full band, GHOST is expressed as a four-dimensional probability density distribution encompassing joint metrological assessment of spectral and spatial properties. Its performance is close to Opponent Band Local Binary Pattern (OBLBP) in HyTexiLa texture classification (91 %-99 % accuracy) with feature size 0.2 % of OBLBP's.

Content based segmentation of patterned wafers

2004

We extend our previous work on the image segmentation of electronic structures on patterned wafers to improve the defect detection process on optical inspection tools. Die-to-die wafer in- spection is based on the comparison of the same area on two neigh- boring dies. The dissimilarities between the images are a result of defects in this area of one of the dies. The noise level can vary from one structure to the other, within the same image. Therefore, seg- mentation is required to create a mask and apply an optimal thresh- old in each region. Contrast variation on the texture can affect the response of the parameters used for the segmentation. We show a method to anticipate these variation…

A particle based simulation model for glacier dynamics

2013

This publication is contribution number 22 of the Nordic Centre of Excellence SVALI, “Stability and Variations of Arctic Land Ice”, funded by the Nordic Top-level Research Initiative (TRI). The work has been supported by the SVALI project through the University of Lapland, Arctic Centre, and through the University Centre in Svalbard. Funding was also provided by the Conoco-Phillips and Lunding High North Research Program (CRIOS: Calving Rates and Impact on Society). A particle-based computer simulation model was developed for investigating the dynamics of glaciers. In the model, large ice bodies are made of discrete elastic particles which are bound together by massless elastic beams. These…

Analyse spectrale et texturale de données à haute résolution pour la détection automatique des maladies de la vigne

2019

‘Flavescence dorée’ is a contagious and incurable disease present on the vine leaves. In order to contain the infection, the regulations require growers to control each of the vine rows and to remove the suspect vine plants. This monitoring is done on foot during the harvest and mobilizes many people during a strategic period for viticulture. In order to solve this problem, the DAMAV project (Automatic detection of Vine Diseases) aims to develop a solution for automated detection of vine diseases using a micro-drone. The goal is to offer a turnkey solution for wine growers. This tool will allow the search for potential foci, and then more generally any type of vine diseases detectable on th…

Effect of the junction angle on turbulent flow at a hydraulic confluence

2018

Despite the existing knowledge concerning the hydrodynamic processes at river junctions, there is still a lack of information regarding the particular case of low width and discharge ratios, which are the typical conditions of mountain river confluences. Aiming at filling this gap, laboratory and numerical experiments were conducted, comparing the results with literature findings. Ten different confluences from 45 ∘ to 90 ∘ were simulated to study the effects of the junction angle on the flow structure, using a numerical code that solves the 3D Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with the k- ϵ turbulence closure model. The results showed that the higher the junction angle, the …

Effect of wastewater management on phosphorus content and sedimentary fractionation in Mediterranean saline lakes

2019

The La Mancha Húmeda Biosphere Reserve is the largest wetland district in the Iberian Peninsula, containing many temporary saline lakes undergoing different anthropogenic pressures. Eleven of these lakes were selected to assess phosphorus (P) burial, fractionation and mobilization in their sediments. Wastewater inputs, wherever they occurred, favored accumulation of all P sedimentary fractions, which took place mainly via precipitation with divalent cations (i.e. calcium or magnesium) and as buried organic matter, both representing relatively occluded P forms, although they can also be involved in P release. P immobilization would be partially restrained in the volcanic lakes of the region,…

Effects of organic matter complexation on partitioning of transition metals into calcite: Cave-analogue crystal growth experiments

2022

We highlight the potential for first row transition metals to carry paleohydrological signals in speleothems, and argue that these metals constitute valuable proxies for climate reconstructions. Metal availability to speleothems is hypothesised to be restricted by organic complexation, which strongly limits the free ion activity of transition metals (Co2+, Ni2+ and Cu2+) in dripwater, thereby creating a kinetic overprint on metal concentrations and isotope ratios in speleothem calcite. This study presents the results of the first cave-analogue experiments of transition metal partitioning into calcite in the absence and presence of organic ligands. The Geological Microclimate (GeoMic) system…
