Towards an Internationalization of the Information Systems Curriculum
2012
Globalization has changed the requirements to professionals and students in all branches and sectors significantly in the past decade. However in the domain of Information Systems, these changes have not yet found their way into current study programs and curricula. We identify and validate core internationalization competences and their relation to IS specific competences based on an initial set of competence categories. This is the basis for designing learning services of the future. The presented study aims at validating both and identifying additional categories and competences. In this paper, we present the first results of this study focusing on the internationalization and knowledge …

PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF AN INOFFENSIVE FIXED-WING UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM
2019
Aim of this paper is the preliminary design of an harmless fixed-wing unmanned Aerial System. To improve application fields, endurance has been selected as fundamental performance and the blended wing configuration has been chosen. So the fuselage has the same airfoil of the wing and contains all the payload. In this way the drag has been reduced. Because of the blended wing arrangement, to control pitch and roll elevons have been introduced. To guarantee the directional stability, winglets have been used; besides winglets increase the equivalent aspect ratio and consequently reduce the drag and improve the endurance. The selected propulsion system has been based on an electrical brushless …
Effect of Mg2+ ions on competitive metal ions adsorption/desorption on magnesium ferrite: Mechanism, reusability and stability studies
2021
Abstract The adsorption behavior of magnesium ferrite in single- and multicomponent metal ions solutions in the presence of Mg2+ ions were studied. A dramatic decrease in the adsorption capacity of magnesium ferrite towards Mn2+, Co2+, and Ni2+ ions for comparison study of single- and multicomponent solutions was established. The affinity of the sorbent in accordance with the maximum sorption capacities increases in the following order Cu2+ > Co2+ > Ni2+ > Mn2+. High efficiency of magnesium ferrite regeneration (~100%) with aqueous solutions of magnesium chloride in the concentration range of 0.001–0.1 M was shown. The low degree of toxic metal ions desorption combined with XRD, IR spectros…
Synergistic Anticancer Therapy by Ovalbumin Encapsulation-Enabled Tandem Reactive Oxygen Species Generation
2020
Abstract The anticancer efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) is limited due to the hypoxic features of solid tumors. We report synergistic PDT/chemotherapy with integrated tandem Fenton reactions mediated by ovalbumin encapsulation for improved in vivo anticancer therapy via an enhanced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation mechanism. O2 .− produced by the PDT is converted to H2O2 by superoxide dismutase, followed by the transformation of H2O2 to the highly toxic .OH via Fenton reactions by Fe2+ originating from the dissolution of co‐loaded Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The PDT process further facilitates the endosomal/lysosomal escape of the active agents and enhances their intracellular deliv…

Heterogeneous fenton oxidation using magnesium ferrite nanoparticles for ibuprofen removal from wastewater: optimization and kinetics studies
2020
In this study, the catalytic properties of Fenton-like catalyst based on magnesium ferrite nanoparticles for IBP degradation were examined. Structural and morphological studies showed the low crystallinity and mesoporous structure for the catalyst obtained via a glycine-nitrate method. The influences of catalyst dosage, oxidant concentration, and solution pH on the pollutant degradation were investigated. The pseudo-first-order model describes kinetic data, and under optimal condition (catalyst dose of 0.5 g L-1, H2O2 concentration of 20.0 mM, and pH of 8.0), apparent rate constant reached 0.091 min-1. It was shown that Fenton reaction was mainly induced by iron atoms on the catalyst surfac…
Effective Recovery Process of Copper from Waste Printed Circuit Boards Utilizing Recycling of Leachate
2020
AbstractThis study presents an optimized leaching and electrowinning process for the recovery of copper from waste printed circuit boards including studies of chemical consumption and recirculation of leachate. Optimization of leaching was performed using response surface methodology in diluted sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide media. Optimum leaching conditions for copper were found by using 3.6 mol L−1 sulfuric acid, 6 vol.% hydrogen peroxide, pulp density of 75 g L−1 with 186 min leaching time at 20°C resulting in complete leaching of copper followed by over 92% recovery and purity of 99.9% in the electrowinning. Study of chemical consumption showed total decomposition of hydrogen pero…
Implementing an institutional change in a regional context : A case study of telemedicine implementation and diffusion in Agder
2018
Master's thesis Information Systems IS501 - University of Agder 2018 High life expectancy, aging population and an increasing chronic diseases generates new challenges for the current global healthcare (Brouard, Bardo, Vignot, Bonnet, & Vignot, 2014). Public agencies and business corporates have shown interest inadvances technological research and innovation projects to remedy the problem. Innovating in public sector is highly challengingand results shouldn’t be taken for granted (Dacin, Goodstein, & Scott, 2002). Further, there is a lack of understanding how public innovations are created (Sørensen & Torfing, 2011). Theoretically the thesis builds on two strands of theories: institutional …
Breeding near heterospecifics as a defence against brood parasites: can redstarts lower probability of cuckoo parasitism using neighbours?
2022
Breeding habitat choice based on the attraction to other species can provide valuable social information and protection benefits. In birds, species with overlapping resources can be a cue of good quality habitats; species with shared predators and/or brood parasites can increase joint vigilance or cooperative mobbing, while raptors may provide a protective umbrella against these threats. We tested whether the migratory common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) is attracted to breed near active nests of the great tit (Parus major), a keystone-information source for migrant passerine birds, or a top predator, the northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis). This system is unique to test these quest…
