This paper examines the safety-related issues for pedestrians at modern roundabouts. For this purpose findings of research studies documented in the scientific literature and best practices have been examined trying to focus on roundabout installations by a pedestrians safety perspective. Over the last few decades, the increase in extreme weather events has caused urban floods to become more and more frequent, with increased risks for road users. Among the different types of pavement structures, permeable pavements (PPs) can effectively increase the hydraulic resilience of the cities since they are specifically designed for reducing runoff by allowing water to infiltrate and be discharged into the soil and/or by drains. Laboratory investigation into the modification effect of paving bitumen with different plastomeric polymers

The use of polymer/bitumen modified blends in road paving applications has been increasingly advancing from the technological point of view. Plastomeric polymers are known to be amongst the most used in bitumen modification. Therefore, this paper presents the influence and degree of modification of several plastomeric modified bitumen in terms of rheological properties and morphology. Conventional tests such as penetration grade, Ring-and-Ball softening point and storage stability were performed. The maintenance of track provides an relatively frequent operations. A good maintenance-planning allows to reduce the interference between rail traffic and maintenance operations. It is necessary so to use a monitoring system of track conditions. In this paper is showed an indirect monitoring system that correlates track conditions and typical spectrum of in-cab noise. The first results of experimental survey are reported.
