Robust L1 fixed-order filtering for switched LPV systems with parameter-dependent delays

Abstract This paper is concerned with the L1 fixed-order filtering problem for a class of switched linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems in which the system matrices and the time delays are dependent on the real-time measured parameters. The authors׳ attention is concentrated on designing the fixed-order filter that guarantees the filtering error system to be exponentially stable and to satisfy a prescribed L1 disturbance attenuation level with respect to all amplitude-bounded disturbances. Influence of increasing convolution kernel filtering on plaque imaging with multislice CT using an ex-vivo model of coronary angiography

PURPOSE: To assess the variability in attenuation of coronary plaques with multislice CT-angiography (MSCT-CA) in an ex-vivo model with varying convolution kernels. MATERIALS AND METHODS: MSCT-CA (Sensation 16, Siemens) was performed in three ex-vivo left coronary arteries after instillation of contrast material solution (Iomeprol 400 mgI/ml, dilution: 1/80). Reliability of a new analysis to compute time to stabilization following a single leg drop jump landing in children.

Although a number of different methods have been proposed to assess the time to stabilization (TTS), none is reliable in every axis and no tests of this type have been carried out on children. The purpose of this study was thus to develop a new computational method to obtain TTS using a time-scale (frequency) approach [i.e. continuous wavelet transformation (WAV)] in children. Thirty normally-developed children (mean age 10.16 years, SD = 1.52) participated in the study. Frequency Determined Homomorphic Unsharp Masking Algorithm on Knee MR Images

A very important artifact corrupting Magnetic Resonance (MR) Images is the RF inhomogeneity, also called Bias artifact. The visual effect produced by this kind of artifact is an illumination variation which afflicts this kind of medical images. In literature a lot of works oriented to the suppression of this artifact can be found. The approaches based on homomorphic filtering offer an easy way to perform bias correction but none of them can automatically determine the cut-off frequency. In this work we present a measure based on information theory in order to find the frequency mentioned above and this technique is applied to MR images of the knee which are hardly bias corrupted.

Non Linear Image Restoration in Spatial Domain

International audience; In the present work, a novel image restoration method from noisy data samples is presented. The restoration was per-formed by using some heuristic approach utilizing data samples and smoothness criteria in spatial domain. Unlike most existing techniques, this approach does not require prior modelling of either the image or noise statistics. The proposed method works in an interactive mode to find the best compromise between the data (mean square error) and the smoothing criteria. FIR Kramers–Kronig transformers for relaxation data conversion

It is shown that relaxation data conversion by the Kramers-Kronig (KK) relations can be treated as a filtering problem of band-unlimited relaxation signals in the Mellin transform domain. Based on this concept, KK relations are implemented in the form of FIR filters with the logarithmic sampling. Reliable Detection and Smart Deletion of Malassez Counting Chamber Grid in Microscopic White Light Images for Microbiological Applications

AbstractIn biology, hemocytometers such as Malassez slides are widely used and are effective tools for counting cells manually. In a previous work, a robust algorithm was developed for grid extraction in Malassez slide images. This algorithm was evaluated on a set of 135 images and grids were accurately detected in most cases, but there remained failures for the most difficult images. In this work, we present an optimization of this algorithm that allows for 100% grid detection and a 25% improvement in grid positioning accuracy.
