2011

Within the course of the theory of cultural consumption (CCT), this research aims to enlighten on the relationship between the consumer to hir or her system of consumption. The first part, qualitative, attempts to describe the nature of the relationship between the consumer and his or her system (the wardrobe in our case) through an anthropological study and a semiotic study. The data was collected by way of observation (video and audio taped) during usage experiences. The second part, quantitative, measures separately the sedimentation of value linked to usage and shopping experiences. Applied to the clothing market, results show the value of the organisational and systemic concerns (which…

Partial spatial equilibria with fuzzy constraints

1981

It is implicitly accepted by spatial economic analysis that the economic behaviour of agents located in given spaces (market areas, regions, etc.) is precise, that is to say, their behaviour is such that a possible action (consumption, production) is, or is not, preferable to another. In otherwords, economic agents are assumed to make accurate economic calculations and optimise the objective functions under strict constraints of resource limitation. These objective functions have clearly defined arguments and well-controlled parameters.

Automatic regrouping of strata in the goodness-of-fit chi-square test

2019

Pearson’s chi-square test is widely employed in social and health sciences to analyze categorical data and contingency tables. For the test to be valid, the sample size must be large enough to provide a minimum number of expected elements per category. This paper develops functions for regrouping strata automatically no matter where they are located, thus enabling the goodness-of-fit test to be performed within an iterative procedure. The functions are written in Excel VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and in Mathematica. The usefulness and performance of these functions is illustrated by means of a simulation study and the application to different datasets. Finally, the iterative use of …

Coordination and profit rate maximization

1995

We study the effects over the coordination between firms of the choice of another objectivefunction for the firm: the profit rate maximization which seems to be closer to business practice than the classical pure profit maximization. After recalling the effect of the new objective function over the optimum (the optimal production is lower), two cases are considered : perfect competition (the price signal disappear), and duopoly-oligopoly (the functions of reactions may vanish).

The HOTELLING model : contributions and limits (application to the case where strategic variables are localizations and prices)

1991

2006

As far as human resource management practices (HRM) are concerned, how do French companies respondto corporate social responsibility (CSR)? Are they eager to develop practices beyond the existing legal rules? To answer these questions, we present the results of an inquiry involving 106 HR managers who mainlybelong to large manufacturing companies. Their statements, collected by questionnaire, are focused on a few“responsible” HRM practices:– Recruiting practices in favour of disabled or non skilled persons;– Training practices promoting the access or the return to work;– Communication practices encouraging the dialog between the managers and the employees.According to our results, the HR man…
