Modes of access to the academic career are generally regarded as crucial element of policy on science and higher education in a country. This can influence the future productivity of teaching and research in different countries. Our research is specifically concerned with the factors that may explain the conditions that lead to integration of researchers and lecturers in the academic career in France. L'esercizio svolto da Sophie Morlaix ha prodotto un indicatore sulla falsariga di quello messo a punto dal premio Nobel per l'economia Amartya Sen per misurare il grado di povertà. Morlaix ha applicato il modello di Sen ai dati prodotti dall'indagine PISA sulle cometenze dei quindicenni nella comprensione della lettura, della matematica e del sapere scientifico. In questo breve capitolo si dimostra come si possano fare parlare i dati in modo che rivelino aspetti non afferrabili a prima vista, come è il caso dell'equità dell'istruzione che si puo far emergere, almeno per ora, solo con misure indirette.

A partir d’une evaluation des connaissances, capacites et competences developpees au sein des systemes educatifs europeens d’enseignement superieur, comme de celles requises par le marche du travail, nous avons pu montrer que le contenu de l’education importe aux yeux des employeurs. Ce resultat provient aussi bien de l’auto-evaluation de leurs qualites par les salaries que de l’hetero-evaluation menee par les superviseurs dans les entreprises.
