A STUDY OF THE πN SCATTERING DATA WITH JP = 3/2- AND A PROOF OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE N*(1700)
2014
Using an interaction extracted from the local hidden gauge Lagrangians and the coupled channels ρN (s-wave), πN (d-wave), πΔ (s-wave) and πΔ (d-wave), we look in the region of [Formula: see text] and we find two resonances dynamically generated which are naturally associated to the N*(1520)(3/2-) and N*(1700)(3/2-). The N*(1700)(3/2-) appears neatly as a pole in the complex plane. The free parameters of the theory are chosen to fit the πN (d-wave) data. The unitary coupled channel approach followed here, in connection with the experimental data, leads automatically to a pole in the 1700 MeV region and makes this second 3/2- resonance unavoidable.
Pressure Dependence of Positron Annihilation in Si
1994
The pressure dependence of the electron-positron and the electron-electron momentum densities in silicon are studied. The observations that the electron-positron momentum density increases more rapidly with pressure than the electron-electron momentum density alone is explained in terms of increased positron penetration into the ion cores. The computational technique used here is based on the independent-particle model (IPM) coupled with the use of the electron pseudo-wave functions.
A novel secure aggregation scheme for wireless sensor networks using stateful public key cryptography
2015
International audience; Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are nowadays considered as an important part of the Internet of Things (IoT). In these networks, data aggregation plays an essential role in energy preservation. However, WSNs are usually deployed in hostile and unattended environments (e.g. military applications) in which the confidentiality and integrity security services are widely desired. Recently, homomorphic encryptions have been applied to conceal sensitive information during aggregation such that algebraic operations are done directly on ciphertexts without decryption. The main benefit is that they offer the end-to-end data confidentiality and they do not require expensive com…
Key EU DEMO plant and building layout criteria
2021
Abstract An early attention to the layout of both plant site and its buildings is essential in a complex plant under preliminary design as DEMO in order to meet the assigned targets, namely i) the licensing requirements ii) a good availability in delivery electricity to the grid. The layout definition has to follow several criteria that become more complex and stringent for nuclear buildings, e.g. functional, maintenance, fire protection, safety, human factors, shielding, and remote handling. The criterion As Low As Reasonable Achievable, with respect to the dose to the staff, has to be applied in design, operation, maintenance and decommissioning phases. The tokamak building, where several…
Burning of Logged Sites to Protect Beetles in Managed Boreal Forests
2007
: Natural disturbance–based management and conservation strategies are needed to protect forest biodiversity. Boreal forests of northern Europe are typically clearcut and otherwise intensively managed for timber production. As a result, natural disturbances such as forest fires have became rare and the volume of dead wood has decreased. These changes have had a profound negative effect on species that depend on dead wood (saproxylic). Therefore, it is important to determine whether modifications of forest management methods can enhance the survival of these species. In our study area in southern Finland, we determined whether burning of logged sites and leaving trees (i.e., retention trees)…
PROTEZIONE E MIGLIORAMENTO DELLE PRESTAZIONI ANTINCENDIO NEI TEATRI ALL’ITALIANA. FIRE PROTECTION AND PERFORMANCE UPGRADE IN ITALIAN STYLE THEATRES
2018
Strict quasi-concavity and the differential barrier property of gauges in linear programming
2014
Concave gauge functions were introduced to give an analytical representation of cones. In particular, they give a simple and a practical representation of the positive orthant. There is a wide choice of concave gauge functions with interesting properties, representing the same cone. Besides the fact that a concave gauge cannot be identically zero on a cone(), it may be continuous, differentiable and even on its interior. The purpose of the present paper is to present another approach to penalizing the positivity constraints of a linear programme using an arbitrary strictly quasi-concave gauge representation. Throughout the paper, we generalize the concept of the central path and the analyti…
Survival of Erwinia amylovora in mature apple fruit calyces through the viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state
2009
Aims: Survival of Erwinia amylovora, causal agent of fire blight in pome fruits and other rosaceous plants, was monitored inside mature apples calyces under some storage conditions utilized in fruit. Methods and Results: Apple fruit calyces inoculated with two E. amylovora strains and their respective GFP-marked strains were maintained at 26° and 5°C, and the effect of copper treatment was assayed at 0·01 and 0·1 mmol l−1 CuSO4. In nontreated apples at 26°C, part of the population of E. amylovora survived in the ‘viable but nonculturable’ (VBNC) state, whereas at 5°C the majority of the population retained culturability. In copper-treated apples, the whole population adopted the VBNC stat…
New Business Models for innovating the cork sector and contrasting cork oak woodland abandonment
2021
The traditional agro-silvo-pastoral system is characterized by wooded grasslands derived from human-induced transformation of forests by tree clearing and tillage. One of the most common tree species of agro-silvo-pastoral systems in Sicily is cork oak (Quercus suber L.). According to the regional inventory these species cover 18830 ha (Camerano et al., 2011) from sea level up to 600 m a.s.l. in siliceous and volcanic substrates. Traditional management of cork oak forest is an example of integration of sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation. Cork oak woodlands are ecologically sensitive and maintained by active human management. Currently, this ecosystem in the Mediterranean Bas…
Kaon Photo- and Electroproduction on Nucleons
1995
We extend previous models of kaon photo- and electroproduction in order to include all six isospin channels. It is found that the inclusion of the few available data for the reactions γp → K 0 Σ − in the fit leads to drastically reduced Born coupling constants g Λ and g Σ . The result suggests the need to include hadronic form factors in a gauge invariant fashion. It is also shown that the K 0 form factor can be seen in K 0 Λ electroproduction.
