Working with People Experiencing Homelessness in Europe
2022
In Europe, the widespread transition from the Traditional Staircase (TS) model to the Housing First (HF) model is transforming the way social service providers work with people experiencing homelessness. This study examined social service providers’ perspectives in both models regarding factors that facilitate or hinder their work. Data were collected through 17 photovoice projects involving 81 social service providers from eight European countries. The results show factors affecting social service providers’ work at three levels: systemic, organizational, and individual. Professionals in TS and HF identified similar topics; however, TS providers discussed more obstacles to work. Implicatio…
Motor development of infants with univentricular heart at the ages of 16 and 52 weeks
2013
Purpose To compare the motor development of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and other types of univentricular heart (UVH) with peers who are healthy at the ages of 16 and 52 weeks. Methods Motor development was assessed with the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). Results Both the 23 patients with HLHS and the 13 patients with UVH had lower total AIMS scores in both observations than the controls. At the age of 52 weeks, patients with HLHS had significantly lower scores in all 4 AIMS subscales, whereas patients with UVH had lower scores only in the prone and standing subscales. Conclusion Motor development of patients with HLHS or UVH is delayed during the first year of …
Chilocoris laevicollis Horváth, 1919, and Ch. umbricola Linnavuori, 1993—two trogloxenic burrower bugs recorded for the first time in Gabon (Central …
2016
First country records of two burrower bugs, Chilocoris laevicollis, and Ch. umbricola (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cydnidae) from Gabon (Central Africa) are presented. The study was based on the specimens collected by Dr. V. Aellen, a well-known Swiss speleologist, taken from two caves near Lastoursville in the Gabonese Republic. Diagnostic characters for both recorded species are provided, and data on their biology and distribution are summarized.
Aradus ribauti Wagner, 1956 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Aradidae) gatunek pluskwiaka nowy dla Polski
2018
Till now, the genus Aradus has been represented in Poland by 16 species. Aradus ribauti belongs to the Aradus betulae group and it is the second species from this group found in Poland. This article presents the first three records of Aradus ribauti in our country.

2017
The first confirmed Polish records of Eremocoris fenestratus are presented; additionally, a key to all species of the genus Eremocoris known from Poland is provided
Metopoplax ditomoides (A. Costa, 1843) (Hemiptera: Oxycarenidae) – pierwsze stwierdzenie w Polsce
2019
Metopoplax ditomoides (A. Costa, 1843) is recorded from Poland for the first time. Several specimens were observed in the package of product imported from France. Death specimens were found under the stretch foil a few months after their transport to Poland.

2016
Oxycarenus lavaterae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Oxycarenidae) has been collected from a Platanus acerifolia in Rzeszów-Słocina, Southeastern Poland. This is the first record of this species from Poland.
First-Line Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Based Sequential Therapies for Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Rationale for Future Trials
2021
Introduction: Atezolizumab (ATEZO) plus bevacizumab (BEVA) represents the new standard of care for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the choice of the second-line treatment after the failure of immunotherapy-based first-line remains elusive. Taking into account the weaknesses of the available evidence, we developed a simulation model based on available phase III randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to identify optimal risk/benefit sequential strategies. Methods: A Markov model was built to estimate the overall survival (OS) of sequential first- and second-line systemic treatments. Seque…
Association of Variants in the SPTLC1 Gene with Juvenile Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
2021
Key Points Question What genetic variants are associated with juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)? Findings In this family-based genetic study, exome sequencing was performed in 3 patients diagnosed with juvenile ALS and failure to thrive; this identified de novo variants in SPTLC1 (p.Ala20Ser in 2 patients and p.Ser331Tyr in 1 patient). Variants in SPTLC1 are a known cause of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy, type 1A, and these data extend the phenotype associated with this gene. Meaning De novo variants in the SPTLC1 gene are associated with juvenile ALS, a fatal neurological disorder.

2017
Elasmostethus brevis Lindberg, 1934 has been collected in the Biebrzański National Park, Northeastern Poland. This is the first record of this species from Poland.
