Emergency free flaps for the reconstruction of open injuries of the upper limb: A review
2004
Debridement of all necrotic and contaminated tissues followed by immediate soft: tissue coverage in order to obtain primary healing is nowadays the standard approach to all open injuries of the extremities. In 1977 Foucher et al. introduced for the first time the concept of immediate treatment at one time of all injured tissues in complex traumas of the upper limb. The final goal of this therapeutic approach is early postoperative mobilization of the hand and of the whole upper extremity. Any delay in treatment will lead to higher risk of infection, to granulation tissue formation and extended fibrosis, reduced flap survival rate, longer hospital stay, late rehabilitation and eventually to …
THE USE OF DOUBLE DARTOS FLAP VERSUS DORSAL PREPUCE FLAP IN REDUCING FISTULA RATE AFTER TIP URETHROPLASTY
2011
Anterolateral thigh perforator flap made by customized 3D-printing fabrication of fixed positioning guide for oromaxillofacial reconstruction:a preli…
2022
Oromaxillofacial carcinomas frequently result in serious tissue defect due to enlarged resection for treating their extensive invasion, which require challenging reconstruction. Three-dimensional (3D) printing is an advanced technology which has greatly promoted the progress of craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery. This present study aimed to investigate the advantages of anterolateral thigh (ALT) perforator flap manufactured by 3D printing fixed positioning guide template in curing oromaxillofacial defect. Twenty patients with oromaxillofacial defects resulted from severe primary malignant tumors were divided into experimental group assisted by digital technique (n=8) and controlled …
Magnetofection of acoustically active „magnetic microspheres“ (Magnetobubbles) — Induction of angiogenesis via non-viral transfection of VEGF
2009
Adenoviral transduction of the VEGF gene in an oversized skin flap increases flap survival and perfusion. In this study we investigated the potential of magnetofection of magnetic lipospheres containing VEGF165-cDNA on survival and perfusion of ischemic skin flaps and evaluated the method with respect to the significance of applied magnetic field and ultrasound.
Novel fasciocutaneous flaps for the reconstruction of complicated lower extremity wounds
2009
Summary: Reconstruction of the leg is particularly challenging especially when the defect involves its lower third. The options for lower leg reconstruction are very few because of the lack of local soft tissue available for transfer. Novel fasciocutaneous flaps nourished by perforator vessels have been developed and are increasingly used as a valuable local alternative to the local flaps, with their high complication rates, and to the microsurgical flaps, with their more difficult and specialized technique. They provide local tissue, replacing like with like, but they harvest it from a distant, undamaged, region of the leg, which means healthy and well-vascularized tissue. They do not need…
Clinical Assessment of the Effects of Low-Level Laser Therapy on Coronally Advanced Flap Procedure in the Management of Isolated Gingival Recession
2022
The aim of this randomized, controlled split-mouth clinical trial was to assess the effect of LLLT on wound healing after modified coronally advanced flap (MCAF) procedure for treatment of isolated recession-type defects. Fifteen patients with isolated bilaterally symmetrical gingival recessions (Miller’s Class I or Class II, or a combination of both) were enrolled in this study. After a modified, coronally advanced flap technique was implemented, a diode laser (810 nm) with a power of 120 mW irradiated the inner surface of the flap and the outer surface of the flap (low-level laser therapy—LLLT) after suturing for 5 min. This was repeated for the following four consecutive days…
An uncommon case of sarcomatoid urothelial carcinoma in covered bladder exstrophy
2016
Abstract We report a case of a woman affected by covered exstrophy, uterus didelphys and external genital malformation presenting with advanced bladder cancer. After neoadjuvant therapy and anterior pelvic exenteration, the abdominal wall was reconstructed with a pedicled myocutaneous muscle-sparing vastus lateralis flap.
Technique des membranes induites en chirurgie maxillo-faciale
2012
Maxillofacial defects reconstruction represents a formidable challenge to achieve both functional and aesthetic goals. To succeed, numerous parameters must be taken into account: patient's general conditions, defect's location, width and type of the defect and eventual donor sites which can provide the tissues. Routine reconstructions include bone transplantation (autologous, homologous or heterologous), implantation of biomaterials and osteogenic distraction. The advantages of these techniques are evident, but they are usually limited by their complexity in patients with bad general health. The technique of induced membranes needs to be more known in maxillofacial surgery.
