Wronskian representation of solutions of NLS equation, and seventh order rogue wave.

This work is a continuation of a recent paper in which we have constructed a multi-parametric family of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation in terms of wronskians. When we perform a special passage to the limit, we get a family of quasi-rational solutions expressed as a ratio of two determinants. We have already construct Peregrine breathers of orders N=4, 5, 6 in preceding works; we give here the Peregrine breather of order seven.

Sonographic evidence of intraperitoneal fluid. An experimental study and its clinical implications.

In order to evaluate the sensitivity of ultrasound to intraperitoneal fluid, such as ascites or blood, an experimental study was performed in the pig. Various amounts of fluid were injected into the peritoneal cavity to investigate distribution and diagnostic criteria in different positions. As little as 10 ml of fluid was visualized around the urinary bladder in an upright position. In the supine position, 20 ml could be detected around the bladder and 30 ml around the liver. The injection of at least 60 ml resulted in a pattern of free-floating bowel loops. The sonographic findings of fluid distribution were correlated to radiological studies. 3D simulations of wind-jet interaction in massive X-ray binaries

High-mass microquasars may produce jets that will strongly interact with surrounding stellar winds on binary system spatial scales. We study the dynamics of the collision between a mildly relativistic hydrodynamical jet of supersonic nature and the wind of an OB star. We performed numerical 3D simulations of jets that cross the stellar wind with the code Ratpenat. The jet head generates a strong shock in the wind, and strong recollimation shocks occur due to the initial overpressure of the jet with its environment. Tracking the evolution of the accretion flow in MAXI J1820+070 during its hard state with the JED-SAD model

X-ray binaries in outburst typically show two canonical X-ray spectral states, i.e. hard and soft states, in which the physical properties of the accretion flow and of the jet are known to change. Recently, the JED-SAD paradigm has been proposed for black hole X-ray binaries, aimed to address the accretion-ejection interplay in these systems. According to this model, the accretion flow is composed by an outer standard Shakura-Sunyaev disk (SAD) and an inner hot Jet Emitting Disk (JED). Abstract We analyzed major and trace elements, Sr and Nd isotopes in ultramafic xenoliths in Miocenic age Hyblean diatremes, along with noble gases of CO2-rich fluid inclusions hosted in the same products. The xenoliths consist of peridotites and pyroxenites, which are considered to be derived from the upper mantle. Although the mineral assemblage of peridotites and their whole-rock abundance of major elements (e.g., Al2O3 = 0.8–1.5 wt.%, TiO2 = 0.03–0.08 wt.%) suggest a residual character of the mantle, a moderate enrichment in some incompatible elements (e.g., LaN/YbN = 9–14) highlights the presence of cryptic metasomatic events. Three-dimensional splitting dynamics of giant vortices in Bose-Einstein condensates

We study the splitting dynamics of giant vortices in dilute Bose-Einstein condensates by numerically integrating the three-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation in time. By taking advantage of tetrahedral tiling in the spatial discretization, we decrease the error and increase the reliability of the numerical method. An extensive survey of vortex splitting symmetries is presented for different aspect ratios of the harmonic trapping potential. The symmetries of the splitting patterns observed in the simulated dynamics are found to be in good agreement with predictions obtained by solving the dominant dynamical instabilities from the corresponding Bogoliubov equations. Toxicity of fatty acid hydroperoxides towards Yarrowia lipolytica: Implication of their membrane fluidizing action

Abstract Linoleic acid hydroperoxide (HPOD), substrate of hydroperoxide lyase, an enzyme of the lipoxygenase pathway, can be transformed into many aromatic compounds, the so-called “green notes”. The presence of linoleic acid hydroperoxide in the culture medium of Yarrowia lipolytica, the yeast expressing the cloned hydroperoxide lyase of green bell pepper, undoubtedly exerted an inhibition on the growth and a toxic effect with 90% of yeast cells died after 120 min of exposition in 100 mM HPOD solution. Yield behavior of magnetorheological suspensions

The rheology of suspensions containing magnetic particles of micrometer size is strongly modified by the application of a magnetic field. We first describe a model experiment where the suspension is made of spheres of millimeter size and we show that the experimental dependence of the yield stress is well predicted by a non-affine model where the chains of particles break in the middle. Then we compare these predictions with some experimental results obtained on suspensions of carbonyl iron; it is shown that this model does not apply in this case. Impact of buffer gas quenching on the $^1S_0$ $\to$ $^1P_1$ ground-state atomic transition in nobelium

International audience; Using the sensitive Radiation Detected Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (RADRIS) techniquean optical transition in neutral nobelium (No, Z = 102) was identified. A remnant signal when delaying the ionizing laser indicated the influence of a strong buffer gas induced de-excitation of the optically populated level. A nonlinear oscillators network devoted to image processing

A contrast enhancement and image inverting tool using a lattice of uncoupled nonlinear oscillators is proposed. We show theoretically and numerically that the gray scale picture contrast is strongly enhanced even if this one is initially very small. An image inversion can be also obtained in real time with the same Cellular Nonlinear Network (CNN) without reconfiguration of the network. A possible electronic implementation of this CNN is finally discussed.
