2017
Il lavoro consiste in un commento a tutte le disposizioni del codice di procedura civile in materia di espropriazione presso terzi, con richiami alle principali leggi speciali, e in un commento alle norme del codice di procedura civile sul pignoramento immobiliare e sull'intervento dei creditori nella espropriazione immobiliare The essay is a commentary on civile procedure rules concernig enforcement of civil obbligation, with reference to the seizure of debtors's credit towards other people (e.g. attaching of erarnings) and with respect to the seizure of real estate.
The RedTube copyright infringement affair in Germany: shame on who?
2015
Recently, tens of thousands of German Internet users were confronted with copyright infringement claims for allegedly watching porn clips on the streaming platform RedTube.com. The alleged copyright infringers received ‘Abmahnung’ cease and desist letters that gave them an opportunity to settle copyright infringements out of court by paying rights-holders €250 in compensation. While in cases relating to peer-to-peer file-sharing, the IP address of a peer can easily be identified,1 the RedTube case raises the question how consumers of a stream could be identified. In addition, it raises the question of whether the consumption of a stream is illegal under German law. Assuming that this is not…
Systematic review of chewing simulators : reality and reproducibility of in vitro studies
2020
Background The aim of this systematic review was to analyze the types of human chewing simulator described in scientific literature. Material and Methods An electronic search was conducted in the databases PubMed, Embase and Scopus. The search strategy included 10 search terms: “in vitro”; “dental materials”; “shear strength”; “fatigue fracture”; “bite force”; “prosthetic materials”; “chewing simulator”; “chewing machine”; “simulated mastication”; and “dental wear simulator.” Two researchers worked independently to assess the titles and abstracts of the articles. The quality of the in vitro trials selected was evaluated by means of the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials scale. Resul…
Satisfaction in complete denture wearers with and without adhesives: A randomized, crossover, double-blind clinical trial
2018
Background The purpose of this study was to compare the satisfaction of patients regarding retention, stability and accumulation of particles with a randomized, double-blind crossed method in users with complete dentures with and without adhesive. Material and Methods Seventeen edentulous individuals were randomized and received new upper and lower complete dentures. After a period of adaptation, they participated in some masticatory tests and clinical revisions, after use the protheses with and without the use of two denture adhesives: Adhesive A (Fittydent, Fittydent International GmbH) and adhesive B (Corega, GlaxoSmithKline) at 0, 7 and 14 days. Satisfaction was measured immediately aft…
Immediate placement of single implant simultaneously with immediate loading in a fresh socket associated to periapical infection: a clinical case rep…
2015
Early restoration of the masticatory function, phonatory and aesthetics is some of the current goals of the therapy based on endosseous implants. Facing the classic protocols of implant insertion, which recommend a period of several months between extraction and implant placement, alternatives have been developed that demonstrate that immediate implant placement after tooth extraction permits adequate osseointegration, even in those cases where there is a periapical disease. The immediate restoration of implants after placement is a possibility where aesthetic requirements are high. This article presents a case with immediate implant placement and immediate loading of a first upper premolar…
The impact of oral rehabilitation with implants in nutrition and quality of life: A questionnaire-based survey on self-perception
2019
Background The association between tooth loss and masticatory problems may influence on food choices and consequently impact nutrition and quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate impact of oral rehabilitation with implants in nutrition and quality of life. Material and Methods A prospective study was performed. The Questionnaire for Healthy Habits (QHH) and the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) tools were used to assess nutrition and oral health status, respectively. Oral implants were placed and the adjacent the bone was radiographically assessed. The mean outcomes of the QHH between pre- and post-rehabilitation periods were assessed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. The OHIP…
Small-angle X-ray scattering reveals differences between the quaternary structures of oxygenated and deoxygenated tarantula hemocyanin
1996
Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) curves have been recorded for the oxygenated and deoxygenated states of the 4 x 6-meric hemocyanin from the tarantula Eurypelma californicum. A comparison of the curves shows that the quaternary structures of the two states are different by three criteria, which all indicate that the hemocyanin is less compact in the oxygenated compared to the deoxygenated form: (a) The radius of gyration is 8.65 +/- 0.05 nm for the deoxy- and 8.80 +/- 0.05 nm for the oxy-form. (b) The maximum particle dimension amounts to 25.0 +/- 0.5 nm for the deoxy- and to 27.0 +/- 0.5 nm for the oxy-form. (c) A dip in the intramolecular distance distribution function p(r) is more pro…
Investigation of protein folding by coarse-grained molecular dynamics with the UNRES force field.
2010
Coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations offer a dramatic extension of the time-scale of simulations compared to all-atom approaches. In this article, we describe the use of the physics-based united-residue (UNRES) force field, developed in our laboratory, in protein-structure simulations. We demonstrate that this force field offers about a 4000-times extension of the simulation time scale; this feature arises both from averaging out the fast-moving degrees of freedom and reduction of the cost of energy and force calculations compared to all-atom approaches with explicit solvent. With massively parallel computers, microsecond folding simulation times of proteins containing about 1000 r…
Electronic and mechanical characterization of self-assembled alkanethiol monolayers by scanning tunneling microscopy combined with interaction-force-…
1993
We have used scanning tunneling microscopy to study self-assembled monolayers of mercaptohexadecanol in ultrigh vacuum. In addition to tunneling, the interaction force gradient acting between tip and sample was measured. Analysis of the force-gradient data shows that the tip is in mechanical contact with the surface of the monolayer which, in turn, is elastically compressed. The lateral dimensions of the mechanical contact are substantially (approximately five times) larger than the width of the tunneling-current filament. The results suggest that the compression of the monolayer constitutes an integral part of tunneling through the molecules
Investigation of Phosphorylation-Induced Folding of an Intrinsically Disordered Protein by Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics
2021
Apart from being the most common mechanism of regulating protein function and transmitting signals throughout the cell, phosphorylation has an ability to induce disorder-to-order transition in an intrinsically disordered protein. In particular, it was shown that folding of the intrinsically disordered protein, eIF4E-binding protein isoform 2 (4E-BP2), can be induced by multisite phosphorylation. Here, the principles that govern the folding of phosphorylated 4E-BP2 (pT37pT46 4E-BP2(18–62)) are investigated by analyzing canonical and replica exchange molecular dynamics trajectories, generated with the coarse-grained united-residue force field, in terms of local and global motions and the time…
