Chromogenic Detection of Aqueous Formaldehyde Using Functionalized Silica Nanoparticles

Silica nanoparticles functionalized with thiol reactive units and bulky polar polyamines were used for the selective colorimetric detection of formaldehyde. The reaction of thiols groups in the nanoparticles surface with a squaraine dye resulted in loss of the pi-conjugation of the chromophores, and the subsequent bleaching of the solution. However, when formaldehyde was present in the suspension, the thiol-squaraine reaction was inhibited and a chromogenic response was observed. A selective response to formaldehyde was observed only when the thiol and polyamine groups were anchored to the silica surface. This research project examines socialized housing programs available to informal settlers in the megacity of Metro Manila, Philippines, and the socio-political and institutional relationships that enable or impede access to housing. Megacities are urban agglomerations with populations of over 10 million inhabitants and Asia and Africa contain some of the fastest growing cities in the world. International audience; The analysis of the v(3)/v(7)/v(9) bending triad of SO2F2 has been recently performed with the Watson's Hamiltonian up to octic terms employing 79 rovibrational parameters but including only the first order Coriolis interaction terms, fixed to ab initio values [H. Burger, J. Demaison, F. Hegelund, L. Margules, I. Merke, J. Mol. Struct. 612 (2002) 133-141]. Since SO2F2 is a quasi-spherical top, it can also be considered as derived from the SO42- sulfate ion. Esta tesis trata de determinar la manera en que se configuran las actividades de imagen, la atenuación y la impersonalidad en el discurso de los profesionales del derecho (jueces y abogados) durante el transcurso de los juicios orales. Para la elaboración de este trabajo, partimos de un corpus de ocho juicios orales (dos por cada jurisdicción presente en el ordenamiento jurídico español) que ha sido transcrito siguiendo el sistema de transcripción del grupo Val.Es.Co. A trie-based approach for compacting automata

International audience; We describe a new technique for reducing the number of nodes and symbols in automata based on tries. The technique stems from some results on anti-dictionaries for data compression and does not need to retain the input string, differently from other methods based on compact automata. The net effect is that of obtaining a lighter automaton than the directed acyclic word graph (DAWG) of Blumer et al., as it uses less nodes, still with arcs labeled by single characters.

Selective derivatisation of resorcarenes: 1. The regioselective formation of tetra-benzoxazine derivatives

Abstract Four 5,6-benzo-1,3-oxazine rings are formed by the condensation of resorcarenes with various aliphatic or aromatic primary amines and formaldehyde. From four possible regioisomers only the C4 symmetrical compound is isolated in yields of up to 90%. Semiempirical calculations confirm its relative stability, which is due to the possible formation of four intramolecular OH…O hydrogen bonds. The regioselectivity of the reaction is further established for two examples by single crystal X-ray analysis. A solvent molecule is included in the extended cavity.
