Investigation on the indentation behavior of sandwich beams using crushable and hyperelastic foam cores

In this work the indentation behaviour of sandwich beams is studied adopting the classical approach representing the core material as a Winkler-type foundation. It is shown how most of the proposed theories can be derived from a general fourth order linear differential equation expressing the equilibrium of the indented beam skin. Different assumptions on the supporting boundary constraints and materials constitutive behaviour, lead to simplifications of the general equation and to the prediction of different indentation features. Flow of turbulent superfluid helium inside a porous medium

The work deals with further developments of a study previously initiated, in which a macroscopic model of inhomogeneous superfluid turbulence, based on extended thermodynamics, has been formulated. The model choose as fundamental fields, beside the traditional fields, two extra variables: the averaged vortex line length per unit volume and the heat flux. Using this model the propagation of the fourth sound inside a superleak is investigated: it is shown that, if the configuration of the vortex tangle inside the superleak are not altered -on the average- by the presence of the walls, when the fourth sound is propagated, vibrations in the vortex line density are present, too.
An optimization-based approach for solving a time-harmonic multiphysical wave problem with higher-order schemes

This study considers developing numerical solution techniques for the computer simulations of time-harmonic fluid-structure interaction between acoustic and elastic waves. The focus is on the efficiency of an iterative solution method based on a controllability approach and spectral elements. We concentrate on the model, in which the acoustic waves in the fluid domain are modeled by using the velocity potential and the elastic waves in the structure domain are modeled by using displacement.Traditionally, the complex-valued time-harmonic equations are used for solving the time-harmonic problems.
