Peculiar behavior of degenerative chain transfer polymerization of a phosphonated methacrylate
2009
Living/controlled radical polymerization of dimethyl(methacryloyloxy)methyl phosphonate (MAPC) has been attempted using degenerative transfer to produce block copolymers. RAFT polymerization of this monomer is sensitive to very low level of oxygen and in any case limited to low monomer conversion. Reverse iodine transfer polymerization (RITP) leads to higher monomer conversion with a limited amount of living polymer (55% by H NMR), precluding an efficient synthesis of block copolymers. A PMMA-b-PMAPC diblock copolymer was therefore synthesized by iodine transfer polymerization (ITP) of MAPC from a PMMA-Imacro-chain transfer agent prepared by RITP. The diblock copolymer, purified by selectiv…
Comparison of living polymerization systems
1994
Recent developments in the field of living polymerization are surveyed. Comparison of the available mechanistic and kinetic information is made for living anionic, cationic, free radical, group transfer, ring-opening metathesis, Ziegler-Natta and immortal polymerizations. This evaluation indicates that the majority of living polymerizations involve quasiliving equilibrium between active (propagating) and dormant (nonpropagating) polymer chains. On the basis of the kinetics of a general model for quasiliving and ideal living polymerizations it is concluded that ideal living polymerization is a special subclass of quasiliving polymerizations. Classification of living polymerization systems is…
Polymerization of methyl and phenyl oxazoline initiated with alkyl chloroformates
2010
It has been shown that alkyl chloroformates are capable of initiating the polymerization of oxazolines. Esters itself initiate rather slowly and the polymerization proceeds via covalent growing species. Exchange of counter ions with triflate or iodide anions leads to faster initiation and higher reaction rates. The polymerization is of living character.
Silseskwioksany i ich zastosowanie w syntezie materiałów polimerowych
2015
Artykuł stanowi przegląd literatury dotyczącej syntezy oraz charakterystyki materiałów polimerowych zawierających silseskwioksany (POSS). Przedstawiono metody otrzymywania hybrydowych materiałów polimerowych z udziałem funkcjonalizowanych POSS na drodze click chemistry, polikondensacji, poliaddycji, metatezy z otwarciem pierścienia ipolimeryzacji rodnikowej zarówno konwencjonalnej, jak i kontrolowanej (ATRP).
