The French Communist Party and the CGTU in the department of Pas-de-Calais during the interwar period
2023
Rural department, bordered by a coastline, formerly industrialized and urbanized, the department of Pas-de-Calais was a bastion of the Socialist Party and the trade union movement before the First World War. The birth of the SFIC Communist Party in December 1920 and the union split that affected the CGT divided the labor movement. Our work is interested in the construction, the evolutions and the anchoring in a territory of an original political movement and its union relays during the years of the interwar period. It is about questioning the specificity of a political party and a trade union organization, about the links they have established between them, about the margin of autonomy they …

Regional gender inequality in the Norwegian culture of equality
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: Gender Issues. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s12147-014-9131-0 This research project has its origin in statistical findings indicating that there has been a long-standing regional variation in the attainment of gender equality in Norway whereby the southern region has been identified as the least gender-equal. This is likely to be caused by an interaction of economic, political and cultural structures. Nevertheless, the understanding of this phenomenon remains incomplete since the cultural dimension too often ends up as a residual category or a dependent variable. The project seeks to explore the cultural dime…
Anne d’Autriche en ses images : légitimation du pouvoir féminin et culture visuelle de la majesté dans la France du XVIIe siècle
2018
Anne of Austria offers an important part, yet neglected, in the the development of royal iconography in seventeenth century France. Devoided from management of power under the reign of her husband Louis XIII, she is however the subject of many representations. The number of her images increases when she accedes to the responsibilities of the government at the death of the king, in 1643, becoming regent in the name of her minor son, Louis XIV. Beyond its majority in 1651, she maintains herself at a prominent place, until the death of Mazarin in 1661. During these two decades, a deep political crisis in France culminates in the so-called Fronde. In this context, the image of Anne of Austria b…

Bioreactivity of Resveratrol Toward Inflammation Processes
2014
Grape polyphenols are abundant. They play essential roles in the vine’s life, particularly in its defense mechanisms. Interestingly, the grape, fresh or dried, is a widely consumed fruit by humans, as are its processed products, grape juice and wine. Moreover, they contain vast and highly varied quantities of polyphenols. Like other phytophenols, grape and wine resveratrol is considered a protective micronutrient like flavonoids, epicatechins in green tea and cocoa, quercetin in apples and onions, curcumin of the turmeric root, and hydroxytyrosol in olive oil. Resveratrol is a powerful natural antioxidant in vine. Interestingly, in humans, it protects low density lipoproteins against oxidat…

«… Il tamburo di Lucano». Leopardi lettore della Pharsalia
2022
After having rapidly reconstructed the reading of Lucan between the 18th and 19th centuries, the contribution focuses its attention on the presence of Pharsalia in Leopardi’s production. The article tries to reconstruct from which moment Leopardi shows a direct knowledge of the epic poem and focuses on crit…
