Mity antyczne we francuskim dramacie XX wieku (na wybranych przykładach)

2017

The French theatre of the 20th century willingly treats and revisits ancient myths. Oedipus, Antigone, Electra, the Trojan War, Amphitryon appear in many writers’ works. The myth of Electra in Jean Giraudouxs version entitled Electra (1937), as well as Jean-Paul Sartres The Flies (1942) are interesting examples of metatexts. Face to the threat of war, Giraudoux, who was a diplomat and a Germanophile, focuses on the problem of power, responsibility, and justice, while Sartre exemplifies the existentialist philosophy and its main element: a man who is responsible for his actions and condemned to freedom. This was a particular challenge during the period of war and occupation. Jean Anouilh, in…

Predicting dengue fever outbreaks in French Guiana using climate indicators

2016

Background Dengue fever epidemic dynamics are driven by complex interactions between hosts, vectors and viruses. Associations between climate and dengue have been studied around the world, but the results have shown that the impact of the climate can vary widely from one study site to another. In French Guiana, climate-based models are not available to assist in developing an early warning system. This study aims to evaluate the potential of using oceanic and atmospheric conditions to help predict dengue fever outbreaks in French Guiana. Methodology/Principal Findings Lagged correlations and composite analyses were performed to identify the climatic conditions that characterized a typical e…

The Balanced Scorecard as a Knowledge Management Tool: A French Experience in a Semi-Public Insurance Company

2008

International audience; In this paper we present the Balanced Scorecard, a Strategic Control tool, which is quite famous all around the world and in the European countries. Its principle objective is to articulate planning decisions with control ones thanks to non-financial indicators. The Strategic Control and the Agency Theories constitute the foundation of this tool. But in Northern Europe, some specific Balanced Scorecard have been designed in the framework of the Knowledge Management Theory. El 'Journal du voleur' de Jean Genet. Una experiencia literaria sin voluntad de recepción

2017

Jean Genet’s literary experience is marked by the isolation and loneliness of jail. The experience of evil through crime and the pursuit of virtue are both present everywhere in the Journal du voleu…

Qui suis-je : Discontinuity as part of teacher identity in Canadian French immersion

2020

The scarcity of research on French immersion teachers’ professional identity contrasts with the increasing popularity of French immersion programs in Canada and the concomitant need for French immersion teachers. This study explores the professional identity negotiation of four French immersion teachers in Alberta, Canada, with a focus on discontinuity. Semi-structured interviews conducted face-to-face with the participants were analysed using dialogic narrative analysis. The findings highlight how discontinuity is occasioned by a change in knowledge about the French immersion teaching as a profession, encountering classroom realities, shifting one’s values concerning second language learni…
