Synthetic Inertia Impact on Inter-Area Oscillations of the Continental Europe Power System
2020
The overall kinetic energy reduction due to increasing share of converter-interfaced generation (CIG) has been investigated so far by several works for systems of different types and sizes. The so called synthetic inertia is one of the most common and reviewed solutions to the issue of system inertia reduction. The paper investigates the effects of synthetic inertia as frequency service provided by the CIG sources for the Continental Europe (CE) synchronous area using a detailed large scale dynamic model. The model - provided in the basic form by the System Protection & Dynamics (SP&D) group of the ENTSOE - is properly developed substituting a determined amount of synchronous machin…
One and Two Dimensional Convolutional Neural Networks for Seizure Detection Using EEG Signals
2021
Deep learning for the automated detection of epileptic seizures has received much attention during recent years. In this work, one dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) and two dimensional convolutional neural network (2D-CNN) are simultaneously used on electroencephalogram (EEG) data for seizure detection. Firstly, using sliding windows without overlap on raw EEG to obtain the definite one-dimension time EEG segments (1D-T), and continuous wavelet transform (CWT) for 1D-T signals to obtain the two-dimension time-frequency representations (2D-TF). Then, 1D-CNN and 2D-CNN model architectures are used on 1D-T and 2D-TF signals for automatic classification, respectively. Finally, t…
Impact flavor compounds in cooked rice cultivars from the Camargue area (France)
2010
International audience; Rice from two scented (Aychade, Fidji) and one nonscented (Ruille) cultivars from Camargue area (France) together with one Asian scented rice (Thai) were cooked and volatile compounds were extracted by dichloromethane/pentane (1;2, v/v) solvent mixture. 40 odorous compounds were noticed during GC-O analysis of the organic extracts, amongst which oct-1-en-3-one and 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline were altmost constantly perceived. Hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) of perceived odours enabled to distinguish the groups of rice cultivars. 60 compounds were identified and quantified by GC-MS. New odour-active components of cooked rice were detected for the first time including oct…
Impact flavor compounds in cooked rice cultivars from Camargue area (France)
2008
International audience; Efforts have been undertaken for the last decades to promote the production of scented rice cultivars in Camargue, a traditional rice cultivation area in the south of France. Volatile compounds of cooked rice from two scented Camargue rice cultivars (Aychade and Fidji) were analysed and compared to that of a marketed Asian scented rice one (Thai)(1). Additionally volatile analysis from a cooked rice of a non-scented cultivar (Ruille) grown in Camargue was performed. (...)
Smadzeņu aktivitāte un volumetriskais ekrāns
2020
Non-linear optical, electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of amphiphilic inner salt porphyrinic systems
2016
Three zwitterionic meso-substituted A3B- and AB2C-porphyrins containing one sulfonato alkylpyridinium substituent and three or two alkoxy-substituted phenyl groups were synthesized in good yield and fully characterized as to their physicochemical properties by a variety of techniques. This new series of inner salt donor-acceptor meso-substituted porphyrin derivatives were prepared for possible application as amphiphilic probes for membrane insertion in the area of combined second-harmonic and two-photon fluorescence cellular microscopy. To this end, the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the compounds were characterized, together with their electrochemical and spectroelectrochemica…
Time-Frequency Characteristics of In-Home Radio Channels Influenced by Activities of the Home Occupant
2019
While aging is a serious global concern, in-home healthcare monitoring solutions are limited to context-aware systems and wearable sensors, which may easily be forgotten or ignored for privacy and comfort reasons. An emerging non-wearable fall detection approach is based on processing radio waves reflected off the body, who has no active interaction with the system. This paper reports on an indoor radio channel measurement campaign at 5.9 GHz, which has been conducted to study the impact of fall incidents and some daily life activities on the temporal and spectral properties of the indoor channel under both line-of-sight (LOS) and obstructed-LOS (OLOS) propagation conditions. The time-frequ…
Polytetrafluoroethylene Films in Rigid Polyurethane Foams' Dielectric Permittivity Measurements with a One-Side Access Capacitive Sensor.
2021
As a non-metallic composite material, widely applied in industry, rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams require knowledge of their dielectric properties. In experimental determination of PUR foams’ dielectric properties protection of one-side capacitive sensor’s active area from adverse effects caused by the PUR foams’ test objects has to be ensured. In the given study, the impact of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films, thickness 0.20 mm and 0.04 mm, in covering or simulated coating the active area of one-side access capacitive sensor’ electrodes on the experimentally determined true dielectric permittivity spectra of rigid PUR foams is estimated. Penetration depth of the low frequency excitation…
Quantitative Rotor Broken Bar Evaluation in Double Squirrel Cage Induction Machines under Dynamic Operating Conditions
2013
Advanced monitoring techniques leading to fault diagnosis and prediction of induction machine faults, operating under non-stationary conditions have gained strength because of its considerable influence on the operational continuation of many industrial processes. In case of rotor broken bars, fault detection based on sideband components issued from currents, flux, instantaneous control or power signals under different load conditions, may fail due to the presence of inter-bar currents that reduce the degree of rotor asymmetry, especially for double squirrel cage induction motors. But the produced core vibrations in the axial direction, can be investigated to overcome the limitation of the …
Studying the double-frequency heating mode in ECRIS plasma using Kα diagnostics
2018
Despite the success of double-heating frequency in enhancing high charge state production, the underlying physics remains poorly understood. By combining three different diagnostic techniques i.e. Kα emission, optical emission and the extracted charge state distribution, it is now possible to assess the proposed explanations for the effectiveness of double-frequency heating against the experimental results. These results seem to indicate that the increase of plasma density accounts largely for the favorable behavior of this operation mode compared to single-frequency mode. peerReviewed
