Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) is mainly diagnosed using psychometric tests such as the psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score (PHES). Despite the clinical and social relevance of MHE, psychometric testing is not widespread in routine clinical care. We assessed the usefulness of the critical flicker frequency (CFF), for the diagnosis of MHE and for the prediction of the development of overt episodes of HE. For patients with colorectal malignomas and surgically nonresectable metastases, regional long-term perfusion with chemotherapeutic drugs may be valuable, according to the current view. Several techniques are used for regional long-term liver perfusion; either the arterial approach via the hepatic artery or a venous approach via the portal vein can be chosen. A long-term catheter can be implanted in the hepatic artery or the portal vein during the resection of the primary tumor or during the “second-look” procedure. In either case a laparotomy has to be done.

In this paper we present a new training with side modality framework to enhance image-based localization. In order to learn side modality information, we train a fully convo-lutional decoder network that transfers meaningful information from one modality to another. We validate our approach on a challenging urban dataset. Experiments show that our system is able to enhance a purely image-based system by properly learning appearance of a side modality. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, the proposed network is lighter and faster to train, while producing comparable results.

When comparing oxygen consumption rates(V O2) of various organs — as shown in Fig. 1 —skeletal muscle is exceptional in two respects: Its consumption rate attains the second largest absolute value of all organs and may vary between rest (0.2 mlO 2.100g-1’• min -1 ) and maximum performance (16 m1O 2.100g-1 • min -1 for electrical stimulation) by a factor of 80, thus covering a range that is by far larger than in any other tissue. In order to understand muscle O 2 transport one has to identify transport mechanisms and evaluate their importance towards bringing about the observed high O 2 fluxes and allowing for their enormous variability.
