Solving a class of fuzzy linear programs by using semi-infinite programming techniques

This paper deals with a class of Fuzzy Linear Programming problems characterized by the fact that the coefficients in the constraints are modeled as LR-fuzzy numbers with different shapes. Solving such problems is usually more complicated than finding a solution when all the fuzzy coefficients have the same shape. We propose a primal semi-infinite algorithm as a valuable tool for solving this class of Fuzzy Linear programs and, we illustrate it by means of several examples.

A Stochastic Soft Constraints Fuzzy Model for a Portfolio Selection Problem

The financial market behavior is affected by several non-probabilistic factors such as vagueness and ambiguity. In this paper we develop a multistage stochastic soft constraints fuzzy program with recourse in order to capture both uncertainty and imprecision as well as to solve a portfolio management problem. The results we obtained confirm the studies carried out in literature addressed to integrate stochastic and possibilistic programming.

Notice of Violation of IEEE Publication Principles: Robust Observer Design for Unknown Inputs Takagi–Sugeno Models

This paper deals with the observer design for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models subject to unknown inputs and disturbance affecting both states and outputs of the system. Sufficient conditions to design an unknown input T-S observer are given in linear matrix inequality (LMI) terms. Both continuous-time and discrete-time cases are studied. Relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. Extension to the case of unmeasured decision variables is also given. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the given results.

A fuzzy mathematical programming approach to the assessment of efficiency with DEA models

In many real applications, the data of production processes cannot be precisely measured. This is particularly worrying when assessing efficiency with frontier-type models, such as data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, since they are very sensitive to possible data errors. For this reason, the possibility of having available a methodology that allows the analyst to deal with imprecise data becomes an issue of great interest in these contexts. To that end, we develop some fuzzy versions of the classical DEA models (in particular, the BCC model) by using some ranking methods based on the comparison of α-cuts. Applying fuzzy Particle Swarm Optimization to Multi-unit Double Auctions

Abstract In the context of Quadratic Programming Problems, we use a fuzzy Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to analyze a Multi-unit Double Auction (MDA) market. We give also a Linear Programming (LP) based upper bound to help the decision maker in dealing with constraints in the mathematical model. In the computational study, we evaluate our algorithm and show that it is a feasible approach for processing bids and calculating assignments.

Relaxed Stability and Performance LMI Conditions for Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Systems With Polynomial Constraints on Membership Function Shapes

Most linear matrix inequality (LMI) fuzzy control results in literature are valid for any membership function, i.e., independent of the actual membership shape. Hence, they are conservative (with respect to other nonlinear control approaches) when specific knowledge of the shapes is available. This paper presents relaxed LMI conditions for fuzzy control that incorporate such shape information in the form of polynomial constraints, generalizing previous works by the authors. Interesting particular cases are overlap (product) bounds and ellipsoidal regions. Finding Satisfactory Near-Optimal Solutions in Location Problems

We develope and analyze a heuristic procedure to solve a fuzzy version of the p-median problem in which we allow part of the demand not to be covered in order to reduce the transport cost. This can be used to improve a given solution of the crisp p-median problem as well as to give to the decision-maker a range of alternative locations that can be adequate according to his or her own criteria.

Fuzzy green vehicle routing problem for designing a three echelons supply chain

Abstract In this study, a three-echelon fuzzy green vehicle routing problem (3E-FGVRP) is considered for designing a regional agri-food supply chain on a time horizon. To account for the variability associated with the quantities requested by customers, it is assumed that the demands are fuzzy numbers simulated by a time-dependent algorithm. Moreover, the vehicle fleet and distribution centres are considered with a defined capacity. Approximation-Based Adaptive Fuzzy Tracking Control for a Class of Nonstrict-Feedback Stochastic Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems

This paper focuses on the problem of approximation-based adaptive fuzzy tracking control for a class of stochastic nonlinear time-delay systems with a nonstrict-feedback structure. A variable separation approach is introduced to overcome the design difficulty from the nonstrict-feedback structure.
