Ordered fuzzy rules generation based on incremental dataset

This paper proposes a novel approach for building transparent knowledge-based systems by generating interpretable fuzzy rules that allow for present dependences between quantitative variables by accounting for uncertainty and the dynamics of their values. In the approach, IF-THEN rules are used to show the conditional relationship between the ordered fuzzy numbers, which contain additional information about the tendencies of variables' value changes. On Some Vagaries of Vagueness and Information

The presence of vagueness in scientific theories (in particular, to those related to and connected with the management of information) is briefly analyzed. We consider, firstly, the problem whether vague predicates can be adequately represented by existing formal theories. A negative answer to this question produces, as a by-product, the suggestion that a good semantics for fuzzy sets can be offered by the notion of “distance from idealized items”. A new approach for geological faults detection

This paper will introduce a new approach, mainly based on wavelets transform and mathematical morphology, for the detection of geological faults in satellite and aerial photos. This can be useful for territorial analysis, digital cartography and the use of geographical information systems. The proposed method is fast enough and unsupervised. Different techniques will be compared and some examples on real data will be presented to indicate the applicability of these methods.

Physical activity (PA) programs are useful to help young elderly stay in good shape for their senior years. These programs should be sustainable, as this would keep the users active for months and years. A PA program should build on activities that users find meaningful and/or best suited for their history of sports and exercise as well as their present physical capacity.
