This paper presents a novel adaptive variable structure (AVS) method to design a fuzzy neural network (FNN). This AVS-FNN is based on radial basis function (RBF) neurons, which have center and width vectors. The network performs sequential learning through sliding data window reflecting system dynamic changes, and dynamic growing-and-pruning structure of FNN. The salient characteristics of the AVS-FNN are as follows: (1) Structure-learning and parameters estimation are performed automatically and simultaneously without partitioning input space and selecting initial parameters a priori. A Logic Fuzzy Model for Evaluation of the Railway Station’s Practice Capacity in Safety Operating Conditions

Abstract The practice capacity of a railway junction depends, in addition to the effective operation’s conditions, by the potential risk factors related to the design plan of the railway station. With the aim of an approach based on the “fuzzy sets” it is possible to determine the numeric value of the practice capacity by the logic - qualitative relations between the features of the railway junction and the potential risk factors. This methodology permits to try out the absolute value of a suitable vector β, (less then the unit) for the utilization of the theoretic capacity in conditions of maximum reliability of the system related to the aspect of safety (technique “fail safe”).
Nestriktās matemātikas morfoloģijas operatori: teorijas pamati un operatoru realizācija konkrētiem konjuktoru-implikatoru pāriem

Maģistra darbā apskatīti matemātiskās morfoloģijas pamatoperatoru - dilācija, erozija, atvēršana, slēgšana - paplašinājumi nestriktās kopās. Vispārīga nestrikta morfoloģijas operatora definīcija realizēta konkrētiem konjunktoru-implikātoru pāriem. Operatoru realizācijā par konjunktoriem izvēlētas minimuma, reizinājuma un Lukasieviča t-normas un par implikatoriem - tām atbilstošie rezidiji un Klīnī-Dinesa implikācija. Konkrētie konjunktoru-implikatoru pāriem iegūtie operatori ilustrēti ar vizuāliem piemēriem, to realizācijai izstrādāta arī lietojumprogramma. Veikta iegūto rezultātu analīze.

The aim of the paper is to present the conceptual framework related to critical path analysis with imprecise activity duration times. This article is motivated by the fact that most approaches to project planning are deterministic. In reality, the problem is accompanied by uncertainty and risk associated with dealing with imprecise data. Fuzzy Systems Based on Multispecies PSO Method in Spatial Analysis

We present a method by using the hierarchical cluster-based Multispecies particle swarm optimization to generate a fuzzy system of Takagi-Sugeno-Kang type encapsulated in a geographical information system considered as environmental decision support for spatial analysis. We consider a spatial area partitioned in subzones: the data measured in each subzone are used to extract a fuzzy rule set of above mentioned type. We adopt a similarity index (greater than a specific threshold) for comparing fuzzy systems generated for adjacent subzones.
