In vivo electrophysiological techniques were used to study the effect of m-chlorophenylpiperazine, a non-selective serotonin-2C receptor agonist, on the activity of non-dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars reticulata and the ventral tegmental area of anesthetized rats. Intravenous administration of m-chlorophenylpiperazine (5–320 μg/kg) caused a dose-dependent increase in the basal firing rate of a subpopulation of nigral neurons which do not respond to a footpinch stimulus [P(0) neurons], whereas it did not affect the activity of neurons which are responsive to the footpinch [P(+) neurons]. 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (7,8 DHF) is a new recently identified TrkB receptor agonist, which possesses a potent neurotrophic activity and shares many physiological properties with the neurotrophin "Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor" (BDNF). However, its precise mechanism of action at the cellular level has not been clarified yet. In the present study we explored the effects of this agent on synaptic and intrinsic neuronal properties by performing whole-cell patch clamp recordings from layer 2/3 pyramidal neurons. The involvement of GABA mediated neurotransmission in the central control of respiration was investigated by administration of the specific GABAA receptor agonist muscimol and the specific GABAA receptor antagonist biculline into the fourth cerebral ventricle of the rabbit. Cycle-triggered averaging of the phrenic nerve activity (PNA) was used to quantify drug-induced changes of the central respiratory pattern. Muscimol reduced the peak amplitude of PNA and increased the duration of the respiratory phases. High amounts of muscimol led to a long-lasting but reversible central apnea. Mutations in the mouse Lis1 gene produce severe alterations in the developing cortex. We have examined some electrophysiological responses of cortical pyramidal neurons during the early postnatal development of Lis/sLis1 mutant mice. In P7 and P30 Lis1/sLis1 neurons we detected a lower frequency and slower decay phase of mIPSCs, and at P30 the mIPSCs amplitude and the action potential duration were reduced. Zolpidem (an agonist of GABAA receptors containing the alpha1 subunit) neither modified the amplitude nor the decay time of mIPSCs at P7 in Lis1/sLis1 neurons, whereas it increased the decay time at P30. Existing evidence suggests GABAergic system is involved in pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) via inhibitory interneuron deficits (Verret et al., 2012) and decrease in functional GABAA receptors (Limon et al., 2012). We searched for subunit correlations for GABA(A) receptor-associated atypically GABA-insensitive [35S]TBPS binding. The homomeric beta3 subunit receptors could be excluded, as GABA-insensitive [35S]TBPS binding was present in beta3-/- mice. Localization of GABA-insensitive [35S]TBPS binding correlated best with those of delta, alpha4 and alpha6 subunit mRNAs. The amounts of GABA-insensitive [35S]TBPS binding components were increased in delta-/- mice, but dramatically reduced in alpha6-/- mice, suggesting a role for alpha6 but excluding delta subunits.

Pētījumā tika apskatīta tēma "Apendektomijas epidemioloģija pēc Bērnu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas datiem 2005. - 2015. gadā”, analizēta bērnu akūta apendicīta saslimstība un to histoloģisku apakštipu izplatība. Pielietota retrospektīva analītiskā pētniecības metode. Teorētiskā daļa balstās uz 44 literatūras avotiem. Pētījumā izmantoti dati no 2279 nosūtījumiem uz patoloģisku izmeklēšanu no slimnīcas arhīva; papildus tiek analizētas materiāla histoloģiskās un imūnhistoķīmiskās pārmaiņas. Izveidota datubāze, veikta datu statistiskā apstrāde. Maģistra darbā tiek apskatīta Liepājas apgabaltiesas kā otrās jeb apelācijas instances tiesu iestādes vieta un loma jaunizveidotās tiesu sistēmas darbībā starpkaru periodā. Atbilstoši darba nosaukumam tika noteikts arī darba mērķis – izpētīt Liepājas apgabaltiesas darbību Latvijas Republikas tiesu sistēmā laika posmā no 1918.gada līdz 1940.gadam. Dibinot jaunu valsti, bija nepieciešams radīt jaunu iekārtu, uz kuras darbotos valsts iestādes, tādēļ darba mērķis iezīmē nepieciešamību ieskicēt jauno Latvijas Republikas tiesu sistēmu, iepazīt Liepājas apgabaltiesas rašanās vēsturi un tās struktūru pētāmajā laika hronoloģiskajās robežās, kā arī uzrādīt ar kādām lietu kategorijām saskārās tiesu ie…
