Szintigraphie adrenerger Tumoren mit 131J-meta-Benzylguanidin
2008
Pheochromocytoma scanning using 131J-meta-benzylguanidine was done in one patient with metastasizing paraganglioma, one patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIb. No activity of tumour tissue could be demonstrated in the patient with metastasizing paraganglioma, whereas the pheochromocytoma could be clearly defined in the patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIa. The female with multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIb showed a suspect space-occupying lesion of the left adrenal using computed tomography. Pheochromocytoma could be excluded by 131J-benzylguanidine scanning, selective estimation of catecholamines in adrenal venous blood as well as the glucagon stimulation and c…
Synovial cysts of the temporomandibular joint: an immunohistochemical characterization and literature review.
2013
Synovial cysts of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) are very rare, and to date, only 12 cases of a synovial cyst in the TMJ region have been reported in the literature. In this paper, we present the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of one such lesion affecting a 48-year-old woman, presented with a mass in the left preauricular region. We describe the usefulness of immunohistochemical analysis for recognizing the synovial lining, which allowed for clear differentiation between ganglion and synovial cysts. Immunohistochemical analyses can be used to diagnose synovial cysts with certainty; however, using at least two markers is advisable to distinguish the two existi…

Follicular adenoma in ectopic thyroid. A case-report
2017
Highlights • Ectopic thyroid is thyroidal tissue located far from its anatomic place. • A patient under our observation displayed left submandibular swelling. • The FNAC test report described a follicular adenoma. • Based on the FNAC diagnosis, we surgically removed the mass. • The post-operative follow-up was uneventful.
ALTERED RATIO BETWEEN AXON CALIBER AND MYELIN THICKNESS IN SURAL NERVES OF CHILDREN
1978
ABSTRACT Maturation of myelin sheaths in normal sural nerves of children proceeds more slowly than axon growth. This asynchronous development of axons and myelin sheaths results in a statistically significant change of the ratio between axon caliber and myelin thickness during normal development. Therefore, myelin thickness of individual nerve fibers must be related to the size of the axons as well as to the age of the individuals studied. Abnormalities of the relationship between myelin thickness and axon diameter (primary hypomyelination of large, or small, or all fibers) were clearly identified in cases with metachromatic leukodystrophy, KRABBE's, DEJERINE-SOTTAS’, COCKAYNE'S and SANFILI…
Pharmacological characterization of high-affinity σ1 receptor ligands with spirocyclic thienopyran and thienofuran scaffold
2019
Abstract Objectives In this study, the pharmacological properties of six spirocyclic piperidines 1–6 showing very high σ1 receptor affinity (Ki = 0.2–16 nm) were investigated. Methods In vitro receptor binding studies, retinal ganglion assay and in vivo capsaicin assay were used to determine the affinity, selectivity and activity. Influence on human tumour cell growth (cell lines A427, LCLC-103H, 5637 and DAN-G) was determined in different assays. The effect on the ergosterol and cholesterol biosynthesis was determined by GLC/MS analysis. Key findings Receptor binding studies demonstrated high selectivity for the σ1 receptor. The increased Ca2+ influx mediated by 2 and the analgesic activit…
Murine embryonic stem cell line CGR8 expresses all subtypes of muscarinic receptors and multiple nicotinic receptor subunits: Down-regulation of α4- …
2015
Non-neuronal acetylcholine mediates its cellular effects via stimulation of the G-protein-coupled muscarinic receptors and the ligand-gated ion channel nicotinic receptors. The murine embryonic stem cell line CGR8 synthesizes and releases non-neuronal acetylcholine. In the present study a systematic investigation of the expression of nicotinic receptor subunits and muscarinic receptors was performed, when the stem cells were grown in the presence or absence of LIF, as the latter condition induces early differentiation. CGR8 cells expressed multiple nicotinic receptor subtypes (α3, α4, α7, α9, α10, β1, β2, β3, β4, γ, δ, e) and muscarinic receptors (M1, M3, M4, M5); M2 was detected only in 2 …
Die Wirkung von Reserpin auf die Konzentration von Adrenalin und Noradrenalin im Katzenherz
1959
1. Cats were given single injections of 1.8 mg/kg reserpine intraperitoneally. After a time interval of 18 hours the animals were killed. The concentration of adrenaline and noradrenaline in the right and left atria and ventricles was estimated by a method reported previously. 2. Reserpine caused a similar loss of catechol amines from all parts of the heart. The concentration of noradrenaline was reduced by 93–97%, the concentration of adrenaline by 59–79%. 3. These observations suggest that the adrenaline of the heart behaves differently from that of sympathetic ganglia or postganglionic nerve fibres after an injection of reserpine. In ganglia and nerve fibres the adrenaline concentration …
Erhöhte Schwellen für die Detektion von Phasenunterschieden in musterinduzierten Flimmerfarben bei Patienten mit Glaukom
1994
BACKGROUND: Pattern-induced flicker-colors are subjective colors produced by rotating disks with black-and-white arcs. Changing the direction of rotation results in a different color. Small variations in the temporal sequence (phase differences) of the black-and-white pattern cause the colors to vary and can be perceived as color differences. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We investigated the thresholds for such phase differences in healthy (n = 11) and in glaucomatous (n = 19) eyes. Acuity and color vision were tested and in patients static visual field perimetry (Octopus G1) was carried out. The disks used for producing the pattern-induced flicker-colors were viewed from a distance of 2 m and had …
Intraoperative Scintigraphy With Portable Gamma Camera for the Localization of Interaortocaval Paraganglioma
2021
A 15-year-old adolescent girl diagnosed of interaortocaval paraganglioma with a positive 123I-MIGB SPECT/CT and 1 unsuccessful prior surgery was operated on with the assistance of a handheld gamma camera. Once the lesion was located and removed, 2 images were taken, one of the surgical field (without 123I-MIGB uptake) and another of the tumor ex vivo (with high 123I-MIGB uptake), confirming that the lesion had been satisfactorily excised. This case highlights the use of a portable gamma camera as a useful tool to locate this rare tumor, with a SPECT/CT positive for 123I-MIGB and a difficult anatomical location suspected.
