Colorimetric Characterization of a Positive Film Scanner Using an Extremely Reduced Training Data Set

2011

International audience; In this work, we address the problem of having an accurate colorimetric characterization of a scanner for traditional posi- tive film in order to guarantee the accuracy of the color informa- tion during the digitization of a movie. The scanning of a posi- tive film is not an usual task, however it can happen for cultural heritage purpose. Art-movies, are often created and stored as positive-film in museums. One of the problems one can face for a colorimetric characterization is to have a reasonable number of measurements from an item. In this work we succeeded in having a reasonable accuracy with just a few number of measurement (typically 4 to 7 ∆Ea∗b units with 2 t…

De Stijl e l'architettura. L'Hotel particulièr, trascrizioni grafiche De Stijl and architecture. Hotel particulièr, graphic transcriptions

2016

This study is a point of view on experimentations made by De Stijl group about architecture through the…

Culinary List Form in the Experimental Poetry of 1960s Finland: Literary Menus and Recipes

2022

AbstractThis chapter investigates the close relationship between the list form and experimental writing, and the poetic and literary usage of the form in the ideologically countercultural experimental setting of the 1960s. The focus is on Finnish literature of the decade and texts that utilize the culinary forms of recipe and menu, both of which are essentially based on listing. The texts examined, thus, combine two traditions: the history of food listings in literature, and the fondness for the list form in experimental and avant-garde traditions. The article begins by considering the recurring position of lists in the experimental writing of the 1960s. Lists are compared to other formal r…

First record of Icerya seychellarum and confirmed occurrence of Aulacaspis tubercularis (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha) in Italy

2020

The Seychelles scale, Icerya seychellarum (Westwood, 1855) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Monophlebidae), is reported for the first time in Italy. Moreover, the occurrence of the white mango scale, Aulacaspis tubercularis (Newstead, 1906) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Diaspididae), firstly reported in 1990 on mango trees growing outdoors in a nursery near Milazzo (Messina province, Sicily), and then intercepted in 2013 on mango plants imported from Florida (USA) to the Botanical Garden in Padova (Italy), is confirmed. Both species were found in two Sicilian mango orchards located in the province of Messina. Their introduction is most likely due to the orchards planting using infested mango nursery pla…

On the real identity of the Strelitzia cultivated in Sicily’s historic gardens

2016

The authors, on the basis of field observations and literature search, conclude that all tree-like plants of Strelitzia grown in Sicily belong to Strelitzia nicolaii. Therefore Strelitzia alba (= Strelitzia augusta), which was generally considered to be commonly cultivated in Sicily since the nineteenth century, if it ever was cultivated on the island, is not currently found there. The Lectotypes of the names S. nicolaii and S. alba are here designated.
