PURPOSE: LigaSure is a bipolar diathermy system, which achieves vessel sealing with reduced thermal spread. The device has been used successfully in abdominal operations and because of its features, it has been applied recently in thyroid surgery to minimize the risk of complications such as laryngeal nerve palsy and hypocalcemia, and also to reduce the operating time. Although calcifications are commonly seen in intracranial meningiomas, gross calcifications are observed in only 1–5% of all spinal meningiomas. We report the clinical findings, surgical strategy and histological features of 9 patients with ossified spinal meningiomas (OSMs). Papillary squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx.

A case of papillary squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx is reported. The lesion was located in the base of the tongue and grossly presented a characteristic finger-like pattern of growth. The clinicopathological profile of the neoplasm is presented and the differential diagnosis with other exophytic squamous cell carcinomas is discussed.
