A simulation function approach for best proximity point and variational inequality problems
2017
We study sufficient conditions for existence of solutions to the global optimization problem min(x is an element of A) d(x, fx), where A, B are nonempty subsets of a metric space (X, d) and f : A -> B belongs to the class of proximal simulative contraction mappings. Our results unify, improve and generalize various comparable results in the existing literature on this topic. As an application of the obtained theorems, we give some solvability theorems of a variational inequality problem.
Thilachium madagascariense (Capparaceae), a new species from eastern Madagascar with a key to the species of the genus
2021
SummaryThilachium madagascariense Fici, a small tree characterised by 1-foliolate leaves with articulate petioles, leaf blades elliptic or narrowly obovate with base attenuate and apex acuminate, flowers in groups of 2 – 3 at the top of lateral twigs and a high number of stamens, is described and illustrated from forest habitats of eastern Madagascar. The new species is similar to T. laurifolium Baker, a species endemic to central and eastern Madagascar, differing in the longer leaves with acuminate apex, flowers conferted at the top of lateral twigs, shorter pedicels, higher number of stamens and shorter gynophore. Its affinities are discussed and an updated key is provided for all the spe…
Transmission Electron Microscopy of GroEL, GroES, and the Symmetrical GroEL/ES Complex
1994
Two new 2-D crystal forms of the Escherichia coli chaperone GroEL (cpn60) 2 x 7-mer have been produced using the negative staining-carbon film (NS-CF) technique. These 2-D crystals, which contain the cylindrical GroEL in side-on and end-on orientations, both possess p21 symmetry, with two molecules in the respective unit cells. The crystallographically averaged images correlate well with those obtained by other authors from single particle analysis of GroEL and our own previous crystallographic analysis. 2-D crystallization of the smaller chaperone GroES (cpn10) 7-mer has also been achieved using the NS-CF technique. Crystallographically averaged images of GroES single particle images indic…
Über gemischte bindungen in der IV. hauptgruppe

Abstract Reaction of Ph3SnLi with Ph2SiCl2 or Ph2GeCl2 at −78°C in THF yields (Ph3Sn)2SiPh2 (1) and (Ph3Sn)2GePh2 (2). The crystal structure of 1 (R = 0.075) exhibits SnSi distances of 257.2(4) and 257.9(5) pm, an SnSiSn angle of 118.5(2)°, and a central C3SnSiC2SnC3 molecular skeleton with symmetry close to C2. The geminal NMR coupling 2J(119Sn ⋯ 119Sn) in 1, and in a tri-, tetra- and pentastannane series shows a linear correlation to their respective non-bonded d(Sn ⋯ Sn) distances (I(t-Bu2Sn)4I: 20 Hz/496 pm; 1: 724 Hz/443 pm).
Global linear feedback control for the generalized Lorenz system
2006
Abstract In this paper we show how the chaotic behavior of the Chen system can be controlled via feedback technique. We design both a nonlinear feedback controller and a linear one which globally regulate the closed-loop system states to a given point. We finally show that our approach works also for the whole family of the generalized Lorenz system.
On the ontogeny and orientation of the Triassic Conodont P1-element in Pseudofurnishius murcianus Van den Boogaard, 1966
2010
Successive growth stages of P1-elements in the Middle to early Late Triassic species Pseudofurnishius murcianus allows the observation of a detailed ontogeny. Besides the gradual enlargement of its curved blade and the growing number of its denticles, a small internal platform develops, eventually followed by an external one, both bearing denticles. The number of denticles on the blade and internal platform increases from five and one in the smallest specimens, respectively, to 14 and 9 in fully developed ones, whereby the distribution pattern of platform-denticles, on the inner one in particular, is of great morphological variety. For the orientation of the P1-element of P. murcianus, the …
Algebraic models of the real affine plane
2017
We introduce a new invariant, the real (logarithmic)-Kodaira dimension, that allows to distinguish smooth real algebraic surfaces up to birational diffeomorphism. As an application, we construct infinite families of smooth rational real algebraic surfaces with trivial homology groups, whose real loci are diffeomorphic to $\mathbb{R}^2$, but which are pairwise not birationally diffeomorphic. There are thus infinitely many non-trivial models of the real affine plane, contrary to the compact case.
The ends of manifolds with bounded geometry and linear growth
2004
We prove that simply connected open manifolds of bounded geometry, linear growth and sublinear filling growth (e.g. finite filling area) are simply connected at infinity.
Overland flow generation on hillslopes of complex topography: analytical Solutions
2007
The analytical solution of the overland flow equations developed by Agnese et al. (2001; Hydrological Processes15: 3225–3238) for rectangular straight hillslopes was extended to convergent and divergent surfaces and to concave and convex profiles. Towards this aim, the conical convergent and divergent surfaces are approximated by a trapezoidal shape, and the overland flow is assumed to be always one-dimensional. A simple ‘shape factor’ accounting for both planform geometry and profile shape was introduced: for each planform geometry, a brachistochrone profile was obtained by minimizing a functional containing a slope function of the profile. Minima shape factors are associated with brachist…
Geometry control of the junction between two fractal curves
2012
International audience; The general objective of our work is to create a geometric modeller based on iterative processes. With this objective in mind, we have to provide tools that work with fractal objects in the same manner as with objects of classical topology. In this article we focus on the constructing of an intermediate curve between two other curves defined by different iterative construction processes. A similar problem often arises with subdivision surfaces, when the goal is to connect two surfaces with different subdivision masks. We start by dealing with curves, willing to later generalise our approach to surfaces. We formalise the problem with the Boundary Controlled Iterated F…
