Plant progesterone 5β-reductase is not homologous to the animal enzyme. Molecular evolutionary characterization of P5βR from Digitalis purpurea

2007

Plants of the genus Digitalis produce cardiac glycosides, i.e. digoxin, which are widely used for congestive heart failure. Progesterone 5beta-reductase (P5betaR) is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of these natural products. Here, we have carried out the purification and partial amino acid sequencing of the native P5betaR from foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), and isolated a cDNA encoding this enzyme. Similarly to other steroid 5beta-reductases, the recombinant P5betaR catalyzes the stereospecific reduction of the Delta(4)-double bond of several steroids with a 3-oxo,Delta(4,5) structure. The gene encoding P5betaR is expressed in all plant organs, and maximally transcribed in leaves and matur…

Molecular Characterization of Virus-induced Autoantibody Responses

2004

Here we present a comprehensive molecular mapping of virus-induced autoimmune B cell responses obtained by serological identification of antigens by recombinant expression cloning analysis. Immunoscreening of cDNA expression libraries of various organs (lung, liver, and spleen) using sera from mice infected with cytopathic (vaccinia virus [VV]) or noncytopathic (lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus [LCMV]) viruses revealed a broad specificity of the elicited autoantibody response. Interestingly, the majority of the identified autoantigens have been previously described as autoantigens in humans. We found that induction of virus-induced autoantibodies of the immunoglobulin G class largely depe…

Energy-related optimal control accounts for gravitational load: comparing shoulder, elbow, and wrist rotations.

2013

International audience; Gaveau J, Berret B, Demougeot L, Fadiga L, Pozzo T, Papaxanthis C. Energy-related optimal control accounts for gravitational load: comparing shoulder, elbow, and wrist rotations. J Neurophysiol 111: 4-16, 2014. First published October 16, 2013; doi: 10.1152/jn.01029.2012.-We permanently deal with gravity force. Experimental evidences revealed that moving against gravity strongly differs from moving along the gravity vector. This directional asymmetry has been attributed to an optimal planning process that optimizes gravity force effects to minimize energy. Yet, only few studies have considered the case of vertical movements in the context of optimal control. What kin…

Digital holographic microscopy with pure-optical spherical phase compensation

2011

Telecentric architecture is proposed for circumventing, by the pure-optical method, the residual parabolic phase distortion inherent to standard configuration of digital holographic microscopy. This optical circumvention produces several important advantages. One is that there is no need for computer compensation of the parabolic phase during the phase map recovering procedure. The other is that in off-axis configuration, the spatial frequency useful domain is enlarged. The validity of the method is demonstrated by performing quantitative measurement of depth differences with high axial resolution. (C) 2011 Optical Society of America

Digitālo prasmju pilnveides iespējas dabaszinību stundā 4. klasē

2019

Tas…

Dynamic Perception of Plastic Movements: Biomechanics and Digital Artifacts

2017

The article offers some reflections on the body-space relationship through images, graphic translations and visual studies that converge into a contemporary digital illuminated avant-garde of the fourth virtual dimension. Starting from the study of the Soviet coreutics of the 1920s and the biomechanics of multimedia performances, it moves on the cinesthetic suggestions and to the dance theorization integrated with the musical score. Finally, some contemporary forms of digital image production are taken into account by addressing a number of issues regarding the exploration of the object-image and its experiential re-elaboration through the production of new graphic knowledge.
