The essay analyzes the transposition of dir. 2019/790/EU, on copyright and related rights in the digital single market. The study focuses on the liability rules of online content sharing service providers and compares them with the general provisions contained in the Digital Services Act.

Hybrid Engagement: Discourses and Scenarios of Entrepreneurial Journalism
2018
Although the challenge posed by social media and the participatory turn concerns culture and values at the very heart of journalism, journalists have been reluctant to adopt participatory values and practices. To encourage audience participation and to offer journalism that is both trustworthy and engaging, journalists of the future may embrace a hybrid practice of journalistic objectivity and audience-centred dialogue. As innovative and experimental actors, entrepreneurial journalism outlets can perform as forerunners of such a culture. By analysing discourses in the “About Us” pages of 41 entrepreneurial journalism outlets, the article examines the emerging journalistic ethos of entrepren…
Modelling mode choice for freight transport using advanced choice experiments
2015
Abstract In this paper we use advanced choice modelling techniques to analyse demand for freight transport in a context of modal choice. To this end, a stated preference (SP) survey was conducted in order to estimate freight shipper preferences for the main attributes that define the service offered by the different transport modes. From a methodological point of view, we focus on two critical issues in the construction of efficient choice experiments. Firstly, in obtaining good quality prior information about the parameters; and secondly, in the improved quality of the experimental data by tailoring a specific efficient design for every respondent in the sample. With these data, different …
If P ≠ NP then Some Strongly Noninvertible Functions Are Invertible
2001
Rabi, Rivest, and Sherman alter the standard notion of noninvertibility to a new notion they call strong noninvertibility, and show--via explicit cryptographic protocols for secret-key agreement ([RS93, RS97] attribute this to Rivest and Sherman) and digital signatures [RS93, RS97]--that strongly noninvertible functions would be very useful components in protocol design. Their definition of strong noninvertibility has a small twist ("respecting the argument given") that is needed to ensure cryptographic usefulness. In this paper, we show that this small twist has a large, unexpected consequence: Unless P = NP, some strongly noninvertible functions are invertible.

AbstractRabi, Rivest, and Sherman alter the standard notion of noninvertibility to a new notion they call strong noninvertibility, and show—via explicit cryptographic protocols for secret-key agreement (Rabi and Sherman attribute this protocol to Rivest and Sherman) and digital signatures (Rabi and Sherman)—that strongly noninvertible functions are very useful components in protocol design. Their definition of strong noninvertibility has a small twist (“respecting the argument given”) that is needed to ensure cryptographic usefulness. In this paper, we show that this small twist has a consequence: unless P=NP, some strongly noninvertible functions are invertible.
Quantum Finite Automata and Logics
2006
The connection between measure once quantum finite automata (MO-QFA) and logic is studied in this paper. The language class recognized by MO-QFA is compared to languages described by the first order logics and modular logics. And the equivalence between languages accepted by MO-QFA and languages described by formulas using Lindstrom quantifier is shown.
