Mass transfer and hydrodinamic characteristics of a high aspect ratio self-ingesting reactor for gas-liquid operations

Abstract The mass transfer performance of a gas–liquid self-ingesting stirred reactor is reported both for coalescing and non-coalescing systems. The vessel features are a high aspect ratio and a rather narrow multiple-impeller draft tube, through which the gas phase is ingested and led down to the vessel bottom, where it is finely dispersed into the liquid rising in the annular portion of the vessel. Comparison is made between k L a values determined by several variants of the dynamic method, among which pure oxygen absorption in a previously de-gassed liquid phase. Nano-inclusion suite and high resolution micro-computed-tomography of polycrystalline diamond (framesite) from Orapa, Botswana

Abstract A single polycrystalline diamond aggregate from the Orapa kimberlite (Botswana) contains a syngenetic micro- and nano-inclusion suite of magnetite, pyrrhotite, omphacite, garnet, rutile and C–O–H fluid in order of abundance. This suite of inclusions is distinctly different from those in fibrous diamonds, although the presence of sub-micrometer fluid inclusions provides evidence for a similarly important role of fluids in the genesis of polycrystalline diamond. New generation spectroscopy systems have advanced towards digital pulse processing (DPP) approaches. Abstract The aim of the present study is to compare a laser ultrasonic technique with a conventional indentation test for the determination of intrinsic properties and the adhesion of alumina coatings, of different thicknesses (30–350 µm), deposited on stainless steel substrates by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). For this purpose, a pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used to irradiate the coated specimens, and the ultrasonic waves generated by the laser are recorded at the epicenter using a laser interferometer. Energy Based Characterization of Fatigue Behaviour of Cyclically Unstable Materials

The paper presents a definition of a new energy based parameter which allows to better describe fatigue proprieties of materials, especially cyclically unstable materials in comparison with the Lagoda-Macha parameter. The proposed parameter distinguishes positive and negative work of external force and depends on the sign of the stresses in paths of strain in materials. It is used in laboratory tests for control of a fatigue process on hydraulic stand. A close-loop control system has been equipped with computer program based on MATLAB/Simulink module.
